This exercise is a modular composition, in wich the module is a cube with a edge of three meters. The sides of the cube must be 20 cm thick and can be replaced by glass as needed to light the interior space or to focus on the park
The main idea of this project is the connection between two small hills by volume, creating a bridge. The connection to the pre-existing routes is made by a small ramp and at its end has a set of vertical planes so the user does not have a complete understanding of the building, so he is required to travel through it to have total perception. This idea is connected to a labyrinthine architecture, inspired in the Casa do Chá in Boa Nova, by the architect Álvaro Siza Vieira. After this course we can either enter on the interior space of the bar or go down to a exterior terrace, in which a part is covered by the building. If we enter the interior esplanade, or we can climb some stairs to access the area of the cafeteria, and a esplanade facing north. Having a horrizontal character in the project, this idea is strengthened by the placement of a covered outdoor esplanade continuing the volume of the cafeteria, being placed vertical
elements in order to notice the useage of the square module in this project. Due to its location in the city park and for being a very green area the elevations are fully glazed, in interior areas, in order to get an idea of transparency from both inside and outside the building.

The main objective for this exercise is to compose a house for a River Keeper, with two bedrooms, A tower to guard the Rio Douro.
The main idea of this project is the connection between two small hills by volume, creating a bridge. The main objective for this exercise is to work on the urban form of two different buildings, and combine it with the urban mesh of Oporto’s historic city. This intervention is located on the block of the Avenida da Ponte, between the S.Bento Train Station, Oporto’s main
The main idea for this exercise is the division of the field in two, through the alignement of the Rua Escura. South of this alignement, confronting Oporto’s main Cathedral is implanted the student union. This complex is formed by two squares unaligned which are connected by an arm. the building confronting the street has a little square excavated, in this building are located all services related to student association. The other square is a multipurpose room, and has a practical roof, that is a small public space where you can have a total visibility of the proposal. North of the alignment of the dark street, we have the student residence that is built around a courtyard, in wich the arm that is connected to the Avenida da ponte is longer, to give an idea of protecion to the field, since it is one of the busiest streets of the city. The entrance to the buildind is characterized by a cube which is embodied differently than the rest of the building, that is in concrete, in wood. this hub is the only exception vertical entrance in the building to be visible from various points of the terrain. From this point we have the connection to
the various types of rooms. In continuation of the entrance arm, we have the volume with single and double modules to teachers. And also from the entrance there is a ramp that connects us to the arm in comparison to the Avenida da Ponte, where are the duplex modules for eight students. At the top in comparison with the Rua Escura tha modules for four students are on the top floor. The floor of the courtyard is empty so there is a connection with the square of the association, which are in the same height. Also on this floor, in comparison to the courtyard is where the living room is located, beneath the modules of eight students.

The basis for the design of this project is related to the fact that the main faรงade is facing north, and for being an area without direct light, the work of this faรงade, and the volumetric form of the modules had major consequences for this purpose. This building fits into the gallery typology, because it has a natural tendency to turn mainly to one faรงade. As the street where it os implanted has a high drop-down on the ground floor we have the garage. There are two vertical access, one at each end of the building, one directly from the garagem, and the other from the main entrance. When designing the elevational, there were some volumetric games that had major importance, so in the taller volumes their cornicewas increased and the galleries were duplicated to create a blend between the verticality of the volumes and the horizontality of the galleries. As a modular design, this is L-shaped, creating a light patio in which the coating is in tile to reflect as much light as possible to the uses that are facing this patio. on the first floor is located the entrance, which is accessible through the patio past mentioned. On this floor we have located the living room, kitchen and a small service bathroom, if we climb to the top floor, we have a small hall which gives access to two rooms facing south, another room facing the patio and left, above the entrance, we have the laundry-room.

The teaching spaces arein the same height of the private courtyard, the several rooms are not bind directly to this courtyard, and they get natural light through smaller courtyards that are in contact to the limits of the school walls. From the teaching spaces we have an underground connection to the auditorium, where are located the dressing rooms and the individual cabinets. 4.6
Starting with an analysis of the terrain, the shape of the building was designed to create a relationship of intimacy and comfort in the outdoor spaces associated with the dance school, through a U shape that defines the boundary of the block. This U has an arm that closes the two courtyards, emphasizing the idea of intimacy. This idea came up in the nearby surroundings we find on both sides of the field where there are highways with heavy traffic and the Port of Leixões. At the south boundary of the Field the limit is made up of several buildings that make it very irregular. The shape and the elevations of the project mark the entry in the school through a slot in which it is the entrance. The organization of spaces is made from a central volume in which the spaces are the entrance and from there we can go directly to the auditorium and courtyard, at the same Projecto 4 Folha height. 2011 / 2012 Turma C 27-03-2012 Upon the entry we can climb the stairs to the administrative spaces that bind to the teaching ones by a corridor.
