Actress Peggy Field Richardson’s Interview
SJM: Tell me about your role in the just-released Tom Ford film Nocturnal Animals. Peggy Fields Richardson: That one was a surprise to everybody, especially me. I am a nude model/dancer/gallery art piece in an art gallery owned by the character played by Amy Adams. There are actually four of us—all of us are Big Beautiful Women—nude except for things like boots, hats, and costume pieces. We’re also statues on pedestals at the gallery opening, with hundreds of fashionably-dressed extras milling around us. Was that shot live? Oh, yeah, it was, and it was very interesting. We were spray painted with several layers of body paint (and some places they sprayed got COLD!), which took hours to apply and really good scrubbing to remove! It’s quite an interesting opening scene, with sparklers and glitter and gyrating nude women, isn’t it? How did you feel about doing a nude scene? You know, it is quite a unique way to open a movie, but it grabs your attention right from the first. As far as doing a nude scene, that’s another sign to me that God really does have a sense of humor. I don’t think ANYONE would have ever expected a 60-year-old, 300+ pound grandmother to need a nudity rider with her contract, but that’s exactly what happened to me! Many people would find that a show-stopper. Did you hesitate to do a nude scene? Well, I gave it some serious thought, but honestly, I came here to pursue life-long dreams. I mean, at 59 years old, I took a leap of faith, quit my job, we sold everything we owned, right down to a 6x8’ cube, and moved from the only state in which I’d ever lived to LA so I could seek an acting career—something I’ve dreamed of since I was about 5 years old. So when it came down to it, I knew I had to do something attention-grabbing to make a splash here, and this was attention-getting, if nothing else! I knew that if I let this role pass me by, it could be YEARS before I got a chance to work with another director as well respected as Tom Ford. Speaking of Tom Ford, how was he to work with? Oh, my, he was WONDERFUL! He was kind and fun, professional and … so many good things. He treated us ladies with the utmost of respect. And he’s the first director with whom I’ve worked who looked like he
loved every minute on the set. Most directors look stressed to the point they have a scowl on their faces. Not Tom! He danced, he laughed, he was a lot of fun, and it was a joyful, empowering experience for us all. The crew members were great—every single one of them. It truly was a wonderful experience for all of us. And you worked with Amy Adams? Yes, we were on the set with Amy for many hours, and the last scene I filmed was just me, Amy and one other person. Amy and the man who played her assistant were having a quiet conversation, sitting on the pedestal where I lay. During a break in the filming, Amy told me, “You’re the bravest woman in Hollywood—I don’t know many people who could do what you’re doing.” I had to laugh with her, because I thought she was pretty brave---I sure couldn’t have worn the shoes they Peggy Fields Richardson had her wearing! with Tom Ford Are you pleased with the movie? Yes, I am. Tom and his crew did a fantastic job. Each of the principal actors did great jobs, and both Jake Gyllenhaal and Aaron Taylor Johnson had very challenging roles unlike anything I’ve seen them in. Amy was outstanding, Michael Shannon was the usually great Michael Shannon. It’s suspenseful and very interesting… moving in places, funny in places. It’s one of those films you see several times and notice new things each time. What’s in your future? Geez, I’m wide open, really. I love playing complex, multi-faceted characters, I think a “Bad Grandma” would be fun. I’m working on a pot-head granny character, a trailer park queen character I call “Lucy Doreen, the trailer park queen,” developing a solo show I call “300 Pounds of Hallelujah.” I continue to train and write… Every morning I when I awaken, I ask my husband, “Do you know today is?” And he always knows the answer: “It’s just another day to live the dream.

VANO
His name is Vano. He has been compared visually to the likes of Michael Jackson, David Bowie and Queen with the vocals of the likes of Dean Martin and Lana Del Rey. Vano is one of the few men these days in the pop culture scene daring enough to step outside of the box of the modern day male performers. Raised in Portland, Maine, Vano grew up with music, dance and entertainment in his household. At an early age Vano was exposed to many classical pieces of art and literature by his parents. In 5th grade, Vano was the only one in his class to create an entire fashion show and partnering with a then known fashion line. Vano attended Waynflete High School where he expanded his creative endeavors even further by becoming the first male to join the dance department at the time when all the other boys turned to sports. He got involved in the theater department appearing in shows like 'Romeo and Juliet' at Tybalt, 'Lysistrata' and 'Once On This Island' as the god of water, Agwè. This led Vano to continue his studies in theatre by attending Chapman University.

“Life isn’t worth living if you don't rule it”
VANO No matter the field, Vano has always been a lover of the arts but it was performance art that he was able to combine all of these creative talents into one medium. Some of Vano's biggest influences have come from the rave culture and adapting it to a wider audience. The idea of total acceptance by everyone in that scene is something he has always gravitated towards. Vano's music is inspired by the huge classic dance floor hits and he strives to continue to push the boundaries of love and art into all facets of the pop culture scene. Vano's last three singles (This Is Goodbye, Let Me Go & Divinity) been featured in Billboard Magazine and they have named him as one of their emerging artists. He has worked with produces from France, Portugal, Italy and more all contributing to a worldly sound not heard in the American market ever. Vano's outrageous look combined with his deep masculine voice and powerful visuals have made him one to watch.
