FEATURED POST: #MONEYSATURDAYS
An emergency fund is simply money you’ve set aside for life’s unexpected events. We’re talking about true emergencies here like a hospital visit, a car wreck, or a leaky roof. The reason to have an emergency fund is simple: You don’t know what’s going to happen. And no one wants to live at the mercy of life’s twists and turns. In one of our most engaging Facebook live videos yet, we interviewed Lawyer Kuukuwa Andam in the light of her recent posts on the being sexually assaulted by 2 prominent men in Ghana. After telling her story, she explained challenges victims of sexual assault (both male and female) face in seeking justice, as listed below: 1. Lack of counselling facilities 2. Costs victims have to pay to get access to justice (including the medical evaluation to verify their account and in transporting the alleged rapists to court) 3. Toxic narratives and societal reactions to stories of rape 4. Categorizing of what a rape victim should look like and thus discrediting people’s stories 5. Lack of resources for law enforcement officers Check out the interview on our Facebook group
Theme for week 5
African Week!
01 / OPRAH WINFREY
"Think like a queen. A queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another stepping stone to greatness."
03 / AMITABH BACHCHAN
"Because you are women, people will force their thinking on you, their boundaries on you. They will tell you how to dress, how to behave, who you can meet and where you can go. Don't live in the shadows of people's judgement. Make your own choices in the light of your own wisdom"
02 / ELEANOR ROOSEVELT
"A woman is like a tea bag - you can't tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water"
04 / JEREMIAH 29:11
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."
