Sister Mag Beauty Shoot
Stylist & Beauty Expert: Lena Schleweis
Lena Schleweis has been an important team member of sisterMAG for a long time. Since issue N°7 she has styled all our cover models, she came with us to the Baltic Sea in sisterMAG N°8 and took care of the dancers in N°9.
Lena is hairdresser and make-up artist and has been freelancing in Berlin for two years now. Born in Heidelberg, she already worked in Paris and New York and loves creative but natural looks that do not seem forced or "made". In collaboration with photographer Ashley Ludäscher (Chasing Heartbeats) this beauty shooting was inspired by prints of the Old Masters. With the beginning of the winter season, Lena did not only want to show make-up tips for a fresh complexion, glamorous evening looks and bright eyes, but as a hair stylist she also shows how to cope with hats and beanies while still looking cute!
Beanie
The perfect look for cold winter days: fresh and bright complexion, highlighted cheeks with a soft Cream Blusher in Apricot (e.g. Posey from MAC). Moisturizer, Primer und BB Cream add to a perfect skin without wearing too much foundation. For the best results you should do a gentle peeling beforehand.
Beanie
This look is perfect for Desi's hair colour. The expressive eye make-up is done with an eyeliner in Rusty Red (e.g. Urban Decay Liquid eyeliner in Woodstock). The look is finished with Marabas Orange Blush Powder from & Other Stories. The lips stay quite natural.
Scarve
In this look the make-up can be a little more dramatic; A highlight are the Smokey Eyes in metallic Green, e.g. with Shimmer Outliner from Cosmetics à la carte in the colour Juniper - this Cream Shadow is used over the whole eyelid. The cheeks and lips are not highlighted and stay quite nude (you might even want to put on a light rosish lip colour).
Scarve
Inspiration for this look was Amy Winehouse, however the dramatic eyeliner is painted with an eyeshadow and not with a fluid eyeliner or kohl. Dark tones in burgundy or violet are great with green or brown eyes (e.g. Catrice Absolute Colour Mono in 50 I Like To Mauve It).
Captain's Hat
An evening make-up, which highlights both eyes and lips. A toned BB cream serves as foundation (relatively light). The cheeks are emphasised with blush in two colours (Orange, which fades into a darker Red, e.g. Feline from MAC). The lips are outlined with lipliner and finished off with lipstick (e.g. Long Lasting Matte Lipstick in Crepon Rose from & Other Stories)
Captain's Hat
These Cat Eyes are unmistakable and very sexy in the style of the 1960s! Brigitte Bardot never left her house without black eyeliner or kohl (e.g. from MAC). A steady hand comes with a lot of practise. Lips are kept in a nude tone in order not to distract from the exciting eye make-up.
Models : Desirée & Denise
We were already lucky enough to work with the twin and blogging duo Nisi and Desi for the last sisterMAG issue, when they photographed the feature »All in the bag« for us. This time we asked them to be IN FRONT of the camera. Actually Desi had just come with her sister for moral support, but without much ado she agreed to show three of our looks herself. The two lovely sisters write and blog on teetharejade.com about fashion, beauty and lifestyle since 2008. Their blog is one of the most successful fashion blogs in Germany. Thus, they were the perfect girls to ask for advice for our Beauty Shooting. Recently they also launched their YouTube Channel with fashion and beauty tips. You should definitely follow the link and check out their blog. We thank the two of them for a lovely day - we definitively had a lot of fun!
Photographer : Ashley Ludäscher
For sisterMAG readers the name Ashley Ludäscher should ring a bell, because the photographer has been working with us regularly since issue 3 and is a good friend of the whole team. The California girl has been living in Berlin for the last two years and works as lifestyle, wedding and travel photographer. The idea for this dark beauty feature came from Ashley herself, because she wanted to realise a beauty feature with a very different look, not comparable to typical women's magazines – darker and not overly retouched. As inspiration served pictures from Desiree Dolron.
