Introduction to Wheel Throwing
Satisfy your curiosity and experience a fun and thorough introduction to throwing on the potter’s wheel. Learn the skills necessary to throw cylinders, cups, bowls and more in this exciting introduction to throwing fundamentals. Mr. Jim will guide you through the process of throwing, shaping and trimming pots on the wheel. Basic surface decoration and glazing techniques are also demonstrated.

Introduction to Metalsmithing and Jewelry Making
You will learn the foundations of metalsmithing and jewelry making. This course will introduce you to sawing, filing, cold and hot connections, surface design, and shaping oncopperorbrass(sterlingsilveratanadditionalcharge) within a state-of-the-art dedicated metalsmithing studio at SIUE. The course includes the use of tools within the studio, as well as a personal toolkit and materials to get you started. Students should complete 1-2 projects which might include a pendant, brooch, ring or earrings.

Learn the basics of bread-making, including the terminology, ingredient functionality, dough handling, fermentation steps, mixing and dough development, as well as the fermentation in the baking process. ReflectiveSurfaces:Watercolor Painting Workshop with Lana Cease
The instructor for this class is watercolorist Lana Cease, known for her paintings of beautiful glass surfaces (marbles in particular). In this class, she shares her favorite techniques and tips for how to paint glass and hard reflective surfaces that shimmer and refract the light.
