Fraternity and Sorority Life
FOUR PILLARS
OF FRATERNITY AND SORORITY LIFE Community Engagement Fraternities and sororities sponsor a multitude of activities each year to impact the local community and raise money for their philanthropic partners. By partnering with both national and local partners, fraternities and sororities encourage their members to become more aware and involved citizens at local levels and at a more global level. Friendship Brotherhood and sisterhood are the foundation of the fraternity and sorority experience blending the concepts of individuality and community. Many members create close lifelong friendships and expand their professional networks as a direct result of their fraternity/sorority involvement. Leadership Fraternity and sorority membership offers a variety of opportunities to develop as a leader at the chapter level and beyond. Members also have the opportunity to attend leadership trainings at national conferences or workshops. Scholarship Fraternity and sorority members are represented in all of SIUE’s schools and virtually every academic major while maintaining a strong focus on academic success. Each organization has their own academic standards for membership while also providing individual incentives and support structures to current members.
