Living in a Community Desk and Guest Policies • Guests are required to be escorted by a resident at all times while in the building (parents included). • Guests are required to leave an ID at the front desk. • Roommates work together to manage overnight guest expectations. • Roommates are required to sign an overnight guest agreement. • Hosts are responsible for guests and their behavior.

Living in a Community • Noise Policy • Housing is a place to live and have community, as well as a place to study and pursue academic interests. Maintaining a positive environment for students is of utmost importance. • Know the community noise guidelines.

Living in a Community How to approach noise? • Deal with problems personally • Compromise • Understand others need to study • Understand others need to live a normal life

Living in a Community Tobacco Policy • To comply with state law and promote better health, all SIUE campuses are smoke-free. This includes all residential facilities. • Tobacco products include, but are not limited to: cigarettes, cigars, e-cigarettes and all forms of smokeless tobacco.

Living with a Roommate What should we talk about before arriving? • Have a conversation about expectations, particularly in regard to sleeping and guests. • Realize this is a shared space.
