More than a BEAUTIFUL CAMPUS At SIUE, we’re known for our beautiful campus. Our scenic and modern campus sits on 2,660 acres of forested woodland. We are committed to continually enhancing the learning environment for students and making campus an even more amazing place to be. Since 2006, the University has completed more than $300 million in construction and infrastructure improvements, adding new state-of-the-art buildings, and enhancing and expanding existing structures. All new campus construction is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) certifiable by the U.S. Green Building Council. The new Art and Design Building has achieved a LEED Gold rating, and the Science Building and Lukas Annex have achieved a LEED Silver rating. SIUE is second in the region for the number of LEED buildings on a university campus, placing only behind Washington University in St. Louis. SIUE has achieved a Silver rating based on the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System for campus-wide sustainable practices from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education.
