The Two Structural Systems

The existing and the shoreline block in the front are adopting two different structural systems. In the existing block at the back, it is reusing the existing structural system of reinforced concrete columns and beams, where the two sides of the block are the structural walls that can a place to show the school names for people’s recognition from the outside.

While the new structure also used the reinforced concrete columns and beams as the main structural elements but with the use of edge beams at the peripheral of the shoreline outline that can be used to hide the beams inside. Therefore, the concrete railing will be connecting with the edge beams that keep the outer surface clean and create a sense of unity. Additionally, a steel truss is installed under the slab at second floor in order to gives a better structural support for the long spanning school hall.
