Laughs in Flowers - so wrote Emerson and, for our beautiful hamlet, the grins are just beginning. As we scan our gardens, the prospect of finding that elusive, award winning, ‘perfect truss’ looms large.

To that end the Siuslaw Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society would like to invite you to attend our Rhody Festival Show on Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21.

In conjunction with the show is a plant sale affording the public the opportunity to purchase many hard-to-find varieties. Sales are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.

Our members are anxious to share their knowledge about the genus Rhododendron and invite the public to participate in our meetings and shows.

If you wish to enter a truss (flower) we will be happy to guide you through the process.

The next meeting of the Rhododendron Society will be May 17 at the Presbyterian Church on Hwy 101. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the program will start at 7.

Join Florence Regional Arts Alliance (FRAA) for their annual Rhody Days Art Festival at the Florence Events Center (FEC).

The event starts Saturday, May 20 at 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and continues Sunday, May 21 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Presented by FRAA, visitors will experience and delight in the unique artistry and fine craftsmanship by local/coastal artisans.
