Chelsea is a neighborhood on the West Side of the borough of Manhattan in New York City. The district’s boundaries are roughly 14th Street to the south and the Hudson River and West Street to the west, with the northern boundary variously described as 30th Street or 34th Street, and the eastern boundary as either Sixth Avenue or Fifth Avenue. Getty Station is a public art program based at the former Getty filling station conceived by real estate developer and art collector Michael Shvo to bring outdoor exhibitions to a broad audience in the center of the High Line arts district. The number of gas station around the country has been declining in recent years, especially Manhattan. The shortage is even more a problem for taxi drivers.

MODULES IN MOVING SYSTEM In this combined use gas station, drivers don’t need to waste their going around for the things they need, instead, the facilities will move around and work for them. These facilities are all on one singe floor in the middle of the car floor and people floor so that it can server both floors. When needed, the facilities will go up and serve people. For the people floor, the service will include panels for exhibition, desks and tables for dinner of different sizes, water mist in the summer time. Moving trails makes it possible to accomplish the different needs of drivers, including body relief, gas charging, car washing, retail, talking and so on. Th facilities can move on the trails, making the plan more flexible and thus help relive the problem of lack of space.

Light Sieve Architectonics of Music Studio, 2017.05 New York City, United States Group work (Parner: Yifei Wu)
Rotation of Sound and Sieve Theory The mathematic logic hidden behind Iannis Xenakis’s music weaves all the individual parts into a creative sequence for audience to appreciate. Taking after Xenakis’s piece Persephassa, the building also uses rhythmic structure generated by sieve theory (a series of numbers be selected based on a specific formula) and imitation (a series of numbers be repeated in a specific pattern, A-B- B-A). Stationary musicians “pass” musical material from one group of players to another, so that the listeners perceive a stationary sound source as moving. Xenakis generated complex rhythms by combing multiple theories of repeated modulus number sets with Boolean operations: union, intersect, complement and symmetric difference.
Salt water pool The masterplan proposal is an extension of the urban grid of Patras through the abandoned pier of the old port. The proposal will provide the city with an open plaza which links the two projects together. The space between the proposals is connected through public salt-water pool, and a matrix of rectangular and triangulated spaces that provide opportunities for seating and shade from local vegetation.

Construction Worker Every year, millions of rural migrant workers come to the cities for job in China, however, they find themselves fail to get involved in the city. There are workers from a special group——construction workers who work alone for some odd construction work. The construction workers with a billboard on hand and a bike or bicycle nearby as their transportation, wait for their employees on the street .

Design Strategy Blocking the lanes&sidewalks and on the other hand having no places of working for the workers have been the big problem of the site. There is little space to build buildings next to the architecture markets for the construction workers waiting nearby. Taking good use of the upper space of the
lanes&sidewalks by uplifting the decoration workers’ place helps solve the problem of blocking and lacking of working space for the workers. The layout of the structures also have connections with the trees and the shop fronts in the site.

Site Plan
There are multiple of trees along the street and the layout of the design interacts with the trees by changing the direction of the structures to avoid the trees but not changing the basic form. Also, trees which influence the place of the roofs can provide shade from sunlight in hot summer and barrier from loud traffic in the site. The design provides different kinds of space for different activities, such business discussion area, three-four workers’ leisure area ,area for group activities like playing cards and
even places for workers to show their abilities according to the decoration workers’ activities happening on the street one day. The stairs of the design is close to the entrance of the architectural markets nearby, making sure that passengers coming to buy building materials can be easily attracted and leaded to the structures and get the right decoration workers for their work, which helps raise the efficiency of the business.

This design not only provides place for workers to wait for passengers and seek for jobs, but also thinks about the parking space of the workers’ bike and motorbikes near this crowed street. The bikes can be parked under the structure which also makes the workers keep an eye on their bikes. Apart from the part next to the markets, there is part of the structure that is near to the urban railways and viaducts where flows more people than other place of the site. The workers would like to stay where there are a lot of people, meaning there will be more chances for them to get jobs, thus, before building up the design, there were a lot of workers waiting down the railways and viaducts grey space. This part corresponds with the site’s special space, and also attracts more workers and passengers to come to the structure, helping to relieve the stress of the traffic. The site is near to a architectural material market, which is why there are so many decoration workers. Materials can be sponsored by the material shops and the shops can use the facade of the structure to do advertisements.

Water Forum Urban Renewal Studio, 2016.11 New York City, United States Group Work (Partner: Rui Guan)
Flood Water in Barranquilla The heaviest creek in Barranquilla will hold a flow of 80 cubic metric water per second, bringing damage to the surroundings and causing the lack of public space during the period. One main strategy is to canalize the creek on the ground surface, the other is to bury them under the street. However, both ways don’t work well. The needs of citizens are not met. The infrastructure construction was only aimed to be used in several rainy days during the whole year.
Site analysis Barranquilla is built on a slope that naturally drains down to the Magdalena River. Following this logic, Barranquilla decided that paved streets can be used as gutters during rainy days.
Site Analysis
The site we chose is in a currently military area with a creek running on the surface and directly to the river, which leads to disconnections over the site both physically and mentally. These are the sections of the typography of the creek which shows the potential possibilities for anomalies to happen. We aims to utilize the creek and transfer the area into a hydrologic park. The transformation of the area into an urban park serves as an opportunity to trigger leisure activities and aquatic ecosystems typical to tropics.
Dual Water Systems There are two systems of water in the site, one is the creek which has the capacity to hold a fast flow water which is hard to construct during rainy days. The other one is the linear park with water contained all over the year that can be understood as a giant hydric machine, serving as remediation cycle for the rainwater.

Five Anomalies The design has a water-related narrative of five parts. In the first stage, the big drop of the topography will work as a reservoir to contain water when it rains and also as a hydroelectric dam. During the process, the bar screen surface will get rid of the debris and the big drop will generate aeration, starting the first stage of cleaning the rainwater. The second park works as an open field for sports, including skate park, football, basketball, tennis court with water used with the state of mist and this part is also the start of the fast creek system. During the process, the cleanness of water happens in the sedimentation of the still water. The third stage work as a combined zoo and aquarium, transporting the animals

BOUNDARY?
SWEET! DISSOLVING! PUBLIC SPACE! SHELTER!
Candy Wall The intent of Candy Wall is to provide an interactive contemplative space that is tectonic, satirical, and playful. The transparent wall is able to be inhabited on either side of the "border." There is a visual and experiential play on the division created by the candy border through the transparency and how users can be standing next to one another within the border, are able to see one another, but are still divided. As lollipops are taken, users actively participate in the visual deconstruction of the barrier.

Thorn is quite helpful to enhance the friction by slightly expanding straw’s inwall. In this way it’s easy to put straw in but difficult to put it out.

Site Analysis NEW INC, the first museum-led incubator, is a shared workspace and professional development program designed to support creative practitinals working in the area of art , technology, and design. NEW INC provides a collaborative space for a highly selective, interdisciplinary community of one hundred members to investigate new ideas and develop a sustainable practice. This course focuses on the design and digital fabrication of stainless steel, panelized cladding systems. These systems will be designed for the New Inc building, a museum-led incubator and co-working space, located directly adjacent to the New Museum on the Bowery.
Before
After
Design Strategy The facade of the street where the site lies is linear, however, in response to this collaborative space , we would like to open to the public and invite pedestrians going into the lab. As a result, the facade will flow and have an opening to the public through the facade.
Model Precoss
Paper mock-up model used to test the opening of each panel and the structure system.
We used metal laser-cutting to present four panels of the system and the golden spray paint on one side as finishing.
