Bridge Fund FAQ Q. What is the Bridge Fund? A. The Bridge Fund is a financial appeal. Each school year the budget is built with a gap between expenses and income generated through tuition and fees. This gap is filled by the generous donations of the SJCS community. The Bridge Fund is the avenue through which our families and friends are able to enrich the educational experiences of the students at San Jose Christian School. This fund allows us to enhance resources and opportunities beyond the basic educational costs covered by tuition. It provides an avenue for every community member to give as the Lord provides towards the Kingdom work of SJCS and keeps us collectively on our knees and looking to the Lord to meet the needs of the school. Q. How does SJCS utilize the Bridge Fund gifts? A. At the beginning of each year, the administration works closely with faculty and staff to formulate a list of prioritized needs for SJCS. The community then comes together, through the Bridge Fund, to provide approximately 10% of the budget for classroom resources, technology, Fine Arts, insurance payments, financial assistance awards and the like. The very tangible tools that teachers and staff need each day to prepare San Jose Christian School students to live fully for God in a rapidly changing world. Q. Who gives to the Bridge Fund? A. SJCS receives Bridge Fund support from all members of the SJCS community including parents, grandparents, parents of alumni, faculty and staff, board members and friends of the school. Q. Why should I give to the Bridge Fund? A. As a member of the SJCS community, your gift to the Bridge Fund is important because it shows your support of SJCS and its mission of equipping students to “advance the kingdom of God and transform culture for Jesus Christ.” The continued growth and strengthening of SJCS is made possible by the gifts made to the Bridge Fund each year. Q. Is my gift tax deductible? A. SJCS is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization, so gifts made to the school do qualify for a tax deduction. Please consult your tax advisor for rules governing your tax situation. Q. What are some alternative giving plans? A. Along with your one time cash/check donation, you can make a pledge or recurring gift. As well, stock and securities are accepted. Many companies also have matching gifts for charitable giving. We would love to further explain these options to you. Please contact the school office. Q. Why should my gift be unrestricted? A. Bridge Fund gifts are typically unrestricted so that they may be used wherever they are needed the most. This enables the administration and faculty to make sure that the specific needs of SJCS are met. Of course, gifts that are designated to a particular program are also welcome. (Alternative giving plans are available as well.)
