GrandFriends Day SJCS 2016 FAQ’s GrandFriends Day is a long standing tradition at SJCS. This is a day that we have dedicated to sharing our campus and programs with grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends of our students. We often receive questions about the day. Here are a few of those Frequently Asked Questions and the answers! IS GRANDFRIENDS DAY FOR ALL STUDENTS? Yes, every student PS through 8th grade is encouraged to invite someone to enjoy the GrandFriends program. Our Infant Care students (Caterpillars) will not be performing. DO I NEED TO RSVP FOR THE DAY? Yes! The planning team coordinates a lunch for all our guests and it is important for you to RSVP. You are welcome to do that by calling the school office or completing this RSVP form. WHAT IS THE PROGRAM? The morning program runs from 8:45am to 10:45am with two short intermissions. Classes perform for 3-10 minutes depending on their selected performance. We will do our best to publish the draft agenda 1 week in advance (Friday, May 6). CAN I JUST WATCH MY STUDENT AND THEN LEAVE? We encourage all guests to enjoy the entire program so that you can see not only your students, but the efforts of all our students. We are a community that strives to support each other. If you must leave we ask that you exit the auditorium during one of the short breaks. IS THERE A COST TO THE EVENT? There is no cost for this event. The performance is our gift to you and your guests. The luncheon is provided by the CPTA and parent community. We welcome parent volunteers to help throughout the event. Please contact Betsy Phillips in the school office to see what slots still need to be filled. I HAVE HEARD ABOUT FIELD DAY? WHAT IS IT? Field day is another great tradition at SJCS. We schedule this event on the afternoon of GrandFriends day. During the afternoon we combine students from grades 1-8 on 10 unique teams. These teams then compete in fun relay style activities led by the SJCS staff. Parents and guests are invited to watch the festivities. It’s always a great idea to bring folding chairs, water bottles and sun screen to the Field Day portion of the event. WHO DO I CONTACT IF I HAVE ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS? Please contact the school office for any additional questions. (408) 371-7741
