Tips for Standardized Testing Week
Romeo & Juliet - Great Performances
This week, the 1st-8th grade students at SJCS will be taking the Terra Nova-3 Standardized Tests. These tests will provide valuable feedback about our students and our programs, so it’s vital that all of our students are here on time each day. Please make sure your children get plenty of sleep this week and eat a nutritious breakfast in the morning so that they can be at their best for these tests. If you have to schedule appointments for doctors, dentists, or orthodontists, please do so in the afternoons. We appreciate your help!
Over the last 2 months, 23 actors and 4 crewmembers worked tirelessly on the middle school play, Romeo and Juliet, and it resulted in three outstanding performances last week. Under the direction of Ms. Diephouse and Mr. DenOuden these student actors exceeded our expectations. The memorization and subsequent delivery of masterful lines from the streets of Verona was inspiring. The actors embraced the minimal set design and used their body movements, facial expressions and intonation to give life to the words of this romantic tragedy. With modern twists of humor and props, the two-hour performance kept even the youngest members of the audience engaged. Thank you to Miss Diephouse and Mr. DenOuden for their efforts and to all the students, parents and staff that made this year’s Middle School Drama a huge success.

Boys Soccer Season Wrap Up
Please join us for the March CPTA Meeting tomorrow 3/27 at 8:45am in the Auditorium.
The boys soccer team finished its playoff run in 7th place out of 26 teams on Saturday. It was a cold, windy, and rainy morning making it tough to judge the balls in the air all day, and the boys had no substitutes available because of the middle school play performance going on back at SJCS. The Tigers were matched up against division rival Milpitas Christian, and fell 21 but demonstrated a lot of heart and determination by coming back from a 2-0 deficit. In the words of coach Webb, “I have never been more proud of a loss than this. The guts, effort, and determination were enough to keep everyone watching including me warm.”
Scrip Orders Due Wednesday 3/28 The scrip order deadline is moved up to Wednesday, March 28. This will allow for the Scrip Center to fill and mail our orders before they close for the holidays next week.
