SJCS Students Shine at Fine Arts Festival

Each May, the six CSI Christian schools in Northern California come together to host a Fine Arts Festival for students in grades 58. This year, 50 students from SJCS traveled to Hanford Christian School to showcase artwork, writing, vocal music, instrumental music, poetry, Bible memorization, and readers’ theater. The students perform as individuals or groups, depending on the event, and judges offer feedback on the pieces and a final grade to each participant. In both the percentage of our students who attend the event and the quality of their work, SJCS serves as a shining example of the value we place on creative expression as part of our humanity. Students, you showed people what it means to live out what God has called you to be, and we hope that you never forget the feelDuring the live auction, bidders captured great items like vacations, sports packages, ing of worshipping Him with your talents. The Lord will use your gifts in mighty ways! The annual SCJS Auction was held on Saturday evening, May 4, 2013 and brought together the community that supports our school for an evening of fun and fundraising. The event, Stepping Out and Stepping Up, sought to bring in money to fund technology upgrades around campus. After the silent auction and prize opportunities, those in attendance were treated to two demonstrations of classroom technology: Apple TV, which allows teachers and students to project what is on their computers onto the screen from anywhere in the room, and a document camera with a whole host of capabilities, including the ability to record a lesson presentation for students to re-watch later.
