RISE UP!

From the Office 2012 Fall Town Hall Tomorrow you will have the chance to attend the Fall Town Hall. This event provides us with an opportunity to share important topics with school families, and it also gives attendees a chance to ask questions and have them answered. At the upcoming Town Hall, we look forward to telling you about the professional development activities our staff is doing this year and the way they are improving the experiences for your children in the classroom. You’ll also get a chance to hear about the final results of our Walk-a-Thon and the Rosetta Stone Spanish program starting this quarter. We hope to see you all there! The event starts at 6:30pm in the SJCS auditorium.

Prayer Request Gert Bamford, long-time SJCS supporter and recent SJCS board chair, found out recently that she has a stage 3 (and possibly stage 4) form of non-Hodgkins lymphoma. She has already begun chemotherapy treatments, and the doctor says this type of cancer has a 60% cure rate. We continue to lift up Gert to our great God for healing, as well as for strength and comfort during this difficult time.

SJCS Sports Cross Country The Cross Country teams complete their season this Friday with Division Finals at Oak Hill Park, Danville, CA. Please keep these atheletes in your prayers as they prepare for this big event.

Thank you to Coach Michelle Kunde and Coach Bruce Phillips for working with us throughout the season. Another thank you to all the parents who helped and supported us through the season.

Football Wrap Up From Coach Webb I want to congratulate the SJCS Tigers flagfootball team. This was a tough season with only one win, but the players learned a lot through their games. We had a lot of young players playing big roles. Those students will have to really step up next year with some great leaders leaving. I want to thank all the 8th graders that played their last football game ever for SJCS. You guys will be missed. A big thank you to all the parents and volunteers that made the season possible.

Coaches Needed Dear Parents and Supporters, Our basketball season will be starting up next week. If you or anyone you know would have interest in coaching either the boys or the girls team, please let me know ASAP. I can give more details if you contact me via email at hwebb@sjchristian.org or by phone at 408-455-9917. Please prayerfully consider being part of these students’ lives. Go Tigers! Remember that Dr. William Yao and his orthodontic office will donate $1 to SJCS for every pound of candy brought into his office on November 3.

The 2012 Softball season ended with a tough playoff loss last Tuesday. The Tigers started strong and created a 7-run lead. Going into the bottom of the 4th inning, our defense hit a wall, and the Redwood Christian Eagles scored 8 runs to take the lead. Our girls did not give up, and they took back the lead (9-8) in the top of the 5th. RCS was able to score 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th, ending the game and taking the win.

Drop off your candy on November 3 from 11am - 3pm at their Saratoga office location. 18805 Cox Avenue, Suite 150 Saratoga, CA 95070

As a group we learned a great deal this season about winning, losing and working as a team. Our 8th grade players were a huge asset to the team, and we will miss their leadership and “style” next year.
