School News A Commitment to Serve One of the hallmarks of education at SJCS is instilling a commitment to serve in our young people. As Christians, our faith in God needs to produce fruit in the way that we live, and caring for others is a big part of that. As you consider the snapshot of our students’ current service activities below, pray for the Lord to provide opportunities for your own family to serve others as well: • Preschool – 4th graders are bringing in bedding to help the San Jose Family Shelter restock its linen closet for Christmas (see the attachment for more details). • The 3rd grade class will be writing letters to shut-ins in the weeks ahead. • 5th grade students assemble and distribute Christmas gift bags for the families whose homes border SJCS. • 7th grade will be working at Sacred Heart Community Service on January 10. • The Choir is singing at the Campbell Chamber of Commerce Toy Drive on December 6.

Rainy Day Pickup Procedures It’s that time of year when it becomes more likely that we will have rainy weather during pick up time after school. If this is the case, students will still be picked up in the same general areas of campus, but they will be walked out to your car from under the covered walkway. Please continue to pull as far forward as possible to help us alleviate traffic backup.

SJCS Choir to Serve the City of Campbell

Thursday, December 6

The Campbell Chamber of Commerce works every year to raise money and donated toys for the less fortunate children of Campbell and surrounding areas. This year, their efforts will culminate in a benefit night at Nordahl Hall in Los Gatos, and the Chamber has asked the SJCS Choir to perform at the event. We are excited to serve our community and share the love of Christ in this way, and we look forward to participating. The benefit night is scheduled for Thursday, December 6 from 5pm – 8pm. Our choir will be singing between 6pm 7pm.

Last Holiday Scrip Order Schedule

December 14

The last date to place a December Scrip Annual Teacher/Staff Christmas Luncheon order is Wednesday, December 12. Pick up Hosted by SJCS CPTA | 11:45am will be December 20.

The girls basketball team is off to a great start. We had two games last week. We played Legacy Christian on Tuesday and won 40 - 5! The girls played great, and it was fun to see so many players score baskets. On Friday, we played Los Gatos and lost. The girls played hard and had some great plays. This week we have three games. We play Achiever twice and then Liberty.

Boys Basketball SJCS 39 | Legacy 26 The Tigers tipped off the season with a great win against a team that beat us twice last year. Alfred B. was dominant with 14 points, and the only player that could stop him was himself. He got in foul trouble late but was able keep from fouling out. Isaiah R. had to shake off a few first game jitters too but was huge for the Tigers all day, keeping the tempo up and really forcing the defense to double team him the whole second half. Nick M. made 1 of 2 free throws in the third. Calvin F. scored a layup that was pretty huge as Legacy was coming back. David W. also helped seal the game with a solid 10 points. Michael R. made a great shot in the 4th that made the bench go crazy. Ryan M. and Gabe L. also had some good looks at the basket but came up a little short. This was a great team win with everyone healthy playing!
