Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Webb on the birth of their new daughter. Juliet Joy was born on Thursday, December 6, weighing in at 9 pounds, 1 ounce and measuring 22 inches long. Mom and baby are home and doing very well.

The January Series Is Coming Once again, SJCS is serving as a remote location for the Calvin College January Series of lectures. Broadcasts will begin on Thursday, January 3—even though school will not be back in session yet. You can come experience the 15 lectures with refreshments and fellowship in the SJCS auditorium at 9:30am each weekday morning. For the first three days, the speakers are: 1/3 – Jeremy Courtney, “Restoring Hearts in Iraq” | Courtney is the Executive Director of Preemptive Love Coalition, an organization dedicated to eradicating the backlog of 30,000 children waiting for life-saving heart surgery in Iraq. 1/4 – Sheryl WuDunn, “Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide” | WuDunn is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author of 3 bestselling books. Her book, Half the Sky, was made into a 4-hour PBS special about the challenges facing women around the globe. 1/7 – Roberta Green Ahmanson, “Dreams Become Reality” | Ahmanson is a writer and philanthropist focused on the vital role the arts play in shaping human experience and the critical role of religion in public life. Holiday Service Projects
Wednesday, December 12
Service projects continue to be an excellent way for our students to be the light of Jesus in the local community and in His world. Many of our students are participating in Holiday Service Projects. Please be in contact with your teacher to discuss ways that you can help with your class projects.
On Friday, Dec. 21 there will be an optional off campus field trip to Pizza My Heart and then to a movie. The cost for this field trip will be $5.00 per student. These SJCS classes are supporting the San Jose Family Shelter by providing them with a variety of donations to help those families who are in need. These donations will help restock the linen closet that assists all Last Holiday Scrip Order members of the shelter. Lost & Found Once again the Lost and Found closet is overflowing with an abundance of clothing! Please label your children’s clothing items with your last name at minimum so that we can return garments to their rightful owners. Claim articles of clothing, lunch boxes, books, etc. from the tables outside the auditorium this week.
Special Events SJCS 1st Grade Christmas Tree Downtown San Jose presents Christmas in the Park each year. Located in Caesar Chavez Park in the heart of downtown, the event contains a variety of holiday decorations and displays. San Jose Christian’s 1st Grade students have decorated one of the trees this year. If you are visiting Christmas in the Park, please take a moment to see our students’ efforts.
