From the Office Book Fair Wrap Up The week of November 7, SJCS held its annual book fair, which provides students and families a great way to add to their reading collections while also boosting the resources of our library. For the week, the fair sold $6,500 worth of books and earned $2,370 worth of books for our own library. Thanks to everyone who volunteered and to Mrs. Meyer for organizing this great event!

Hallelujah! On Friday night at San Jose Christian Reformed Church, our 5th-8th grade bands, the jazz band, and the choir performed at their annual Christmas Concert. The audience was treated to a wide range of Christmas favorites, including choral selections from Handel’s Messiah for young voices. As usual, the students sounded amazing and showcased all the hard work they have put into their music this year. SJCS is blessed with a tremendous music program, and we are grateful for the efforts of Mrs. Baham in bringing out the best in our students.

Bold Vision, Bright Future This year’s annual financial drive is underway, and everyone in the school community has the chance to support our efforts. This year’s funds are focused on core programs, financial assistance for families with verified need, and teacher compensation and improvement. Consult the brochure we sent home, or visit http://goo.gl/i2M8B for more information. Your pledge or your gift of cash, stock, or annuity will help us reach our $100,000 goal. Please take the time to pray about the level of your involvement, and we look forward to your support.

The January Series is Coming

Frozen Friday Updates

Each January, SJCS serves as a remote location for an award-winning lecture series put on by Calvin College called The January Series. This year’s speakers include a Harvard government professor, a Washington Post columnist, a record-breaking hiker of the Appalachian Trail, a Broadway star, and one of the most respected theologians of our time—N.T. Wright. Each speaker delves into a particular issue and leaves the audience with a new understanding or the challenge to think differently. Lectures take place weekdays from January 4-24 at 9:30am in the school auditorium, and you can show up early for coffee and refreshments too. For more information on speakers and topics, visit http://www.calvin.edu/january/2012/. We will attach brochures to next week’s Tiger Tracks as well. See you there!

As you plan your Frozen Friday calendar please note that Frozen Friday will be December 14 rather than December 16. Also, the first Frozen Friday in January will be January 6th, not January 3rd as previously noted.

SJCS 1st Grade Christmas Tree Downtown San Jose presents Christmas in the Park each year. Located in Caesar Chavez Park in the heart of downtown, the event contains a variety of holiday decorations and displays. San Jose Christian’s 1st Grade students have decorated one of the trees this year (#418). If you are visiting Christmas in the Park, please take a moment to see our students’ efforts.

Lost & Found Once again the Lost and Found closet is overflowing with an abundance of clothing! Please label your children’s clothing items with your last name at minimum so that we can return garments to their rightful owners. Claim articles of clothing, lunch boxes, books, etc. from the tables outside the auditorium this week.
