Jenn’s Pen - Living Inside Out by: Mrs. Jennifer Thompson Seeking to raise children who value what God does is one of the greatest challenges of our time. I think we can all agree to that. Grandfriend’s Day was a beautiful, multi-generational event that illustrated how our SJCS families are committed to doing that. What a joy to see grandparents, parents, and other family friends enjoying the gifts that God has given to our students and encouraging and supporting the students in their efforts. In the book My Utmost For His Highest, Oswald Chambers writes the following: The people who influence us most are not those who buttonhole us and talk to us, but those who live their lives like the stars in heaven and the lilies in the field, perfectly simply and unaffectedly. Those are the lives that mold us. That is what we have emphasized this year with our theme. It is by living Inside Out and concentrating on Christ who lives within us that we can make an impact on our world. So be encouraged to continue living out Christ and be of great influence. If we do that, He will use us all in mighty ways to transform our culture for Jesus Christ.

15th Annual Sports Awards Come join us this Thursday for a time to celebrate each of the student athletes who participated in sports this school year. Our awards event begins at 6:30pm at the Campbell Community Center. Athletic attire is not appraise for this evening; please dress up and represent your teams well. As always the SJCS dress code will be in effect. We look forward to seeing you there.

Jazz Show Ahead Friday, June 3 is the date for our annual Jazz Show and tickets are now available in the office for $5 each. The show runs from 7pm - 8:30pm in the auditorium and features our current jazz band directed by Mrs. Jennifer Baham. Door prizes and desserts make it a fun evening for all. Limited seating - tickets are required for this event.

Tiger Tracks SJCS Summer Camp

Tiger Basketball Camp Tiger Basketball Camp is open to boys and girls, grades 1-4 and 5-8, of all skill levels. Our basketball camp is all about developing fundamentals in a fun and safe environment. The coaching staff is made up of Mr. Bost, Mrs. Nibbelink and former SJCS student-athletes who are enthusiastic about passing on their knowledge to the next generation of Tiger athletes. Campers will participate in activities that will help improve their basketball, teamwork, and sportsmanship skills. Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt. Our camp this summer will run from July 18-22. Registration forms can be found on the SJCS website or in the main office. Please contact Alex Bost at abost@sjchristian.org with any additional questions.

Looking for a great summer experience for your child? Look no further than our very own SJCS Summer Camp! Flyers for summer camp are available in the office, and the full brochures are available on line at www.sjchristian.org.

SJCS Partnering With Parents

End of Year Accounts

Last month, a small group of parents attended the second Parent Seminar offered by Campbell Christian Counseling. What became a bit of an informal meeting, we discussed topics like how technology impacts our family, how to best communicate with our children, and how to manage the stress and over scheduling that we all feel. It was a wonderful discussion, and everyone left the meeting with a few more tools in their toolboxes.

Please note that all accounts must be current by the end of the year for students to receive their final report cards. Thanks for your help!

SJCS is committed to being partners with our school families, and because of this, we will be hosting a series of four seminars for parents next year, one each quarter. Along with this, we are also planning other community building events. Please send along any ideas that you would like addressed in the seminars to jthompson@sjchristian.org. There is nothing like a community that learns and grows together in the knowledge of raising a godly family.

Summer Volunteers Needed This summer, there will be many opportunities to volunteer on campus as we begin sprucing up classrooms and grounds. If you are a hearty volunteer who likes to paint, sand, stain, or drill, please contact Jenn Thompson at jthompson@sjchristian.org. There will be weekly assignments available and many projects can be done in the evenings and weekends!

Concert on the Green Thank you to the 200+ people who came to the Concert on the Green Friday night. We always treasure our student musicians, and it’s great for them to receive the support and appreciation of our school community. Thank you to Mrs. Baham and all of the parents and staff who helped set up for the concert and clean up after the event. We appreciate all of you!

Tiger Tracks Teacher Tales | It All Began in a Garden Spotlight on Chapel Written by Jackie DenOuden We had wonderful chapels last week on the theme Giving from the Inside Out. Many different student groups participated by sharing their gifts (leading in prayer, worship, scripture recitation, and sharing examples of how they use their gifts of art, dance, and friendship to bless others). One of the best aspects of chapel this year has been the discussions they produce. For example, after chapel the 3rd grade class discussed the following questions: What does it mean to you to give from the inside out? What are some of the gifts god has given you? How can you use one of your gifts to bless someone else today? Students even took these answers home to share with their parents. What a fantastic opportunity to practice using our gifts for God’s glory.
