SJCS Film Festival
Welcome Bart Den Boer
This year, we are holding the first-ever SJCS Film Festival. Students across campus have really enjoyed learning to film, edit, and create movies. The festival will showcase and celebrate their work and also give students a larger, meaningful audience. The free event starts at 6pm on Friday, May 9 in the SJCS Auditorium. Don’t miss out!
We are excited to announce that Bart Den Boer, our new superintendent, will be in town next week for a visit. Bart will be joining us in order to get a feel for our beloved school, start the process of "onboarding," and discover ways that he can most effectively serve our community alongside us. He will be on and around campus all week, so be sure to welcome him and his wife Pat if you see them.
Join the SJCS Association Each May, we hold the annual SJCS Association Meeting in which our Association members vote in new trustees and approve the budget for the upcoming school year. Association membership is available to anyone over 18 who has a love for SJCS and supports the school’s statement of faith. Annual dues are $10. Please contact the school office for additional information. This year’s Association meeting is Monday, May 12 at 7pm in the SJCS Auditorium.
Girls Soccer The girls soccer team fell in two very well played soccer games last week. Both games had to be taken to overtime to decide the outcome. The final scores: Baymonte Christian 4-2, and Los Gatos Christian 3-2. Great effort by all our girls! This week the girls have games on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. The girls travel to Achiever Christian for a 3:30 game on Tuesday, then it’s off to West Valley Middle School for a 3:30 game on Thursday. Friday we will have a home game against Campbell Christian School. Go Tigers!

Fine Arts Festival SJCS was well represented at the Annual CSI Fine Arts Festival last Friday. Thank you to each student who participated and to all the parents who contributed by driving, accompanying, providing snacks and praying for the success of the event.
Coffee Cart This week the CPTA will host the final coffee cart for the 2013-2014 school year. Enjoy the beverages and fellowship this Friday, May 9 beginning at 8am. A big Thank You to Bonnie Elloway and Michelle Niven who coordinate these wonderful mornings.

Tiger Tracks Scrip Orders due 5/9
Gardeners Still Needed
SJCS Summer Camp
Remember to place your next scrip order by Friday, May 9 at 3pm. Your order will be available for pick up next week Thursday.
Our campus landscape needs some pruning and weeding before GrandFriends Day on May 23. You don’t need a green thumb to help us out, so please contact Betsy Phillips in the office. There are lots of spots available for volunteers. Spread the word!
Looking for a great summer experience for your child? Look no further than our very own SJCS Summer Camp! Flyers for summer camp are available in the office, and registration forms are available on line.
A special note if you are an Amazon shopper. Amazon Smile offers a contribution to SJCS when you designate our school on your order. Check out the site at www.smile.amazon.com

Teacher Tales Check this section each week for exciting stories of teachers doing great things in the classrooms of San Jose Christian School. SJCS Professional Learning Communities
The minimum day this Wednesday will mark our final PLC (Professional Learning Community) day of the year. Teacher's have been working hard on their action-oriented projects all year, and we will be gathering together for each group to present on their accomplishments. Teachers will share what they've learned, what action steps they have taken this year, and how their PLC has positively affected their class and the school. The PLC groups have been a very beneficial way for teachers to meet and collaborate regularly. The work from the groups has already been paying dividends for our school. We piloted Love & Logic training sessions for parents; we created a comprehensive and intentional training program for new teachers; we planted a school garden that has been used by students in multiple grades to give a "hands on" learning experience; we studied and created project based learning assignments to provide students authentic educational challenges; and much more! We look forward to even more positive impact after this Wednesday's discussion, when we'll talk about "next steps." Thank you, parents, for your partnership with us in this process. Numerous studies have shown the benefit that intentional professional collaboration can have on a school community, and we are already reaping the rewards of time well spent.
