Jenn’s Pen by: Mrs. Jennifer Thompson | ’Tis the Season v.3

Jesus’s birth was thrilling and miraculous. It was a promise fulfilled. It was humility personified. It was a gift that we continue to receive. The Savior came to earth, put on flesh and saved my life. That is a marvel, and we need to all marvel that Jesus came just like God said He would, forever transforming the concepts of hope and peace and salvation. Let’s rest in the wonder and marvel at God’s love. It is a great opportunity to show JOY TO THE WORLD. For God so loved the world the He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 Blessings on your family for Christmas!

Lost & Found

January School Showcase

Lost and Found items will be outside the school office this week. Please check the table for any items your students may be missing. Anything not claimed by the end of the week will be donated!

On Tuesday, January 12, we are hosting our second SJCS Showcase event of the year. That gives all of our school families a month to invite friends to come and learn about the outstanding experiences we have to offer. Please find a copy of the event agenda attached to the Tiger Tracks. If every SJCS family invited 1 family to the event it would be an amazing result! Let’s all do our part!

Touch a Truck

1/12 School Showcase

Mark your calendars for January 23rd, 10am-2pm! Mr. I is still looking for volunteers to help on that day, and we can always use more trucks. If you had to think of one person that you know who has access to a cool truck (or other vehicle), who would it be? Now please call that person or give Mr. I the contact information and we'll get that truck! Thank you.

Tiger Tracks Annual Financial Drive Bridge Fund

Re-Enrollment starts in January 25

We are now about a month into the Bridge Fund Annual Financial Drive and have reached the 50% mark of achieving our goal of $200,000. Praise God for His provision! Several of our recent donors have had matching funds from their employer. Have you checked into that? It is a great way to double your gift. Remember, all gifts are tax deductible and make a big difference in the lives of our students.

On January 25th, SJCS will launch re-enrollment for the 2016-2017 school year. Watch for incentives and news about next year when we return in January.

SJCS participates in the National Geography Bee! Friday morning several of our students will be participating in the finals of SJCS National Geography Bee. The winner of this school level competition will continue on the the regional level. Please pray for all the students who are participating.

Sports Update Girls Basketball: The lady Tigers ended a busy week going 2-1. The girls picked up two big wins, defeating Calvary Christian and Achiever Christian. Tough defense and timely offense helped the Tigers to victory. The Tigers will to finish this calendar year with two games against Los Gatos this week.

Book Fair Success! Thank you to all the families who supported the Book Fair. We had a gross sale amount of $4,820.21! In addition we had $66.02 in donations that will be matched 1 to 1 by Scholastic to supply kids in need with books. This year we will receive the profit in Scholastic Dollars, which gives us 50% profit plus a bonus of $224,13. The profit totals $2,465.52. Great job SJCS community

week

Boys Basketball: The Boys Basketball team had two exciting team wins against Calvary and Baymonte, and a character building loss against Achiever last week. An aggressive full court press and swarming defense led by Josh forced many turnovers that led to easy baskets in transition. The team communicated well and shared the ball to get good open shot opportunities. Josh hit two big 4th quarter 3-point shots and led all scorers with 10 points against Baymonte. Jack and Jacob both scored 8 points each and defended the post. Jared pulled down rebounds and added 6 points. Evan ran the offense and scored 5 points and had many assists. Matthew played aggressive defense and contributed with 2 points. Thanks to the Orange Crush for their support cheering the team on.

Tiger Tracks Teacher Tales Check this section each week for exciting stories about teachers doing great things in the classrooms of San Jose Christian School Spotlight on Prayer by Mrs. Camarota As a Christian educator, it is a joy and a privilege to walk along side my students as they explore their own faith journey. Prayer is such a foundational part of that journey. Many students struggle with just how to pray. They are unsure where to begin or what to pray for. In first grade we learn how to pray a “5-finger prayer”. Each finger represents a different part of our prayer. Our prayers sound like this: thumb = “Dear God”; pointer finger = “Thank you for. . . .”; middle finger = “Thank you for. . . ;” ring finger = “help us/me . . .;” pinkie = “In Jesus name, amen.” Using our hands we are able to create some amazing prayers from some amazing, faith-filled students. First grade loves to pray! In our room, we also practice an echo prayer. The use of an echo prayer allows everyone to be a part of this prayer time. It is wonderful to hear all of our voices as we honor God together. Each week one student is our Prayer Warrior. They are in charge of praying as we start our day, at lunch, and again as we end our time together. The use of a “5-finger prayer” allows all the students to confidently lead our prayers. Our class has been blessed to pray for our teachers, administrators, board members and each other. If you would like to be prayed over, feel free to stop by. First grade would love to pray for YOU!

Tiger Cubs Check this section each week for exciting news about our youngest Tigers! THANK YOU! A huge thank you to everyone who came to our 2nd Annual Preschool Christmas Concert. The auditorium was packed, with over 200 audience members! It was such a wonderful time of gathering as a community to celebrate Christ's birth and enjoy all the gifts of the students. Please also plan on coming to our Touch a Truck event on January 23rd, and tell your friends!
