Tiger Stripes Reflections on Who We Are by: Bart Den Boer Strategic Initiatives Part 2 This is the third article in a series reporting on some strategic objectives identified by Board, staff, and community members at our fall strategic planning sessions. I welcome your comments at bdenboer@sjchristian.org. Strategic Objective #1: Increasing Enrollment To Capacity At Each Grade Level, continued from last week…If increasing enrollment to capacity is critical for both missional and financial reasons, how do we go about reaching that goal? A team of board, staff and community members has identified five focus areas: 1) retaining current families, 2) establishing a parent ambassador program, 3) implementing tuition structures to meet enrollment goals for each specific grade level, 4) optimizing our website and web presence for promotional purposes, and 5) developing/enhancing partnerships with local churches. The SJCS Board has set an enrollment goal of “215 for 2015.” An increase of 30 students distributed strategically throughout the different grade levels would enable us to operate at or near capacity for 2015-16.

Teacher Tales| from Mrs. Phillips This past weekend the SJCS Choir and Student Chapel Band led worship at the San Jose Christian Reformed Church. So many awesome things happened during the 1 ½ hour time frame. Students arrived looking wonderful, warming the hearts of those in attendance and reminding me, “Love Does”. As the congregation of both SJCS families and loyal parishioners gathered, the sanctuary filled with warm welcomes and introductions. New and old friends assembled, reminding me, “Love Does.” Four middle school students lead over 150 Christ followers in songs of praise and thanksgiving, reminding me, “Love Does.” The SJCS choir lifted their voices and glorified a mighty God through song reminding me “Love Does.” Students, parents, grandparents and friends united during communion, confirming that the Body of Christ is the tie that binds believers together, young and old, student and parent, men and women. And this is what Love Does!
