Jenn’s Pen -Choices! by: Mrs. Jennifer Thompson Choices are a big part of each day. They begin the moment our alarm goes off-do I hit the snooze button or not? Eggs or oatmeal? Floss or not floss? (FLOSS!) And the choices continue through the day. Most are not life changing, but sometimes we are faced with choices where we have to make moral and ethical decisions, and sometimes, that is not an easy task, especially in today’s world where truth is relative and apathy abounds. It’s Volunteer Appreciation Week San Jose Christian School is known for it’s “Irresistible Christian Community” and the people who make up that community are YOU! We want to take this week to thank each parent, grandparent, family member, alumni, and friend who supports our school. You are an amazing group who represent what we read in Isaiah 6:8 And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” Thank you from the entire staff!

No Pizza? No Milk? If you have not made your 2nd semester payment for pizza, milk, or Frozen Friday we will not be able to provide these items to your students. All payments are due this Friday, February 26. If you have questions about your payment, please email tgarside@sjchristian.org.

Bring Us Your Boxtops We’re driving for another round of Boxtops in March, and the class competition continues. Bring in your boxtops by March 25th for credit.

Tiger Tracks The Auction Is Coming!

Teacher Tales Here am I - Send me! - by Mrs. Phillips I appreciate each person at SJCS who gives of their time and serves from the heart. I value the parent role models, who by giving of their time and talent, show my children what it means to lovingly serve in community. Each of you knows that SJCS does not have a “required” number of volunteer hours. We believe that as members of this Christian community, each person will contribute as they are led. And this model really works. We have over 95% participation by our parent community. That is amazing and we are thankful. Statistics show that volunteering improves your health, contributes to higher self esteem, and improves overall life happiness. I notice that volunteering at SJCS creates opportunities for growth and fulfillment. Many times our volunteers are asked to stretch outside their “wheelhouse” and the results are amazing. Both for SJCS and for the individual. Many people wish they had more time and struggle with work/life balance. I want to encourage each of us to understand that every person has something to give. Anyone can make a difference. For some of us it is time on campus, driving for field trips, or leading a committee. For some it is time on the field or courts, and for others it is a commitment to prayer. Remember, whatever you are doing, you are making a difference and positively impacting the culture of San Jose Christian School. Continue to be a role model for our children, and continue to teach them so that when they hear the words found in Isaiah 6:8 when the Lord asked “Whom shall I send?” they will be inspired to have a servant heart and respond with “Here am I! Send me.”

One of the most enjoyable events for the SJCS community every year is the annual auction. This year’s theme is GOING PLACES, DOING THINGS. The event will be on Saturday April 9 at 6pm at the Campbell Community Center. We hope to see all of you there. The auction supports special projects at school and the funds we raise help SJCS offer our students outstanding 21st Century education. Attached to the Tiger Tracks today, you will find an auction donation form to use if you have something to contribute to the event.
