Jenn’s Pen by: Mrs. Jennifer Thompson | ’Tis the Season v.2 I recently enjoyed spending some time on the JK/K playground (where the sandbox is located) with a bunch of my new friends. We were playing a game of friendly neighbors and pretending we were getting ready for Christmas. It was GREAT! The best part of that time was when one student said, “Isn’t it cool that God loved us so much that He sent His son for Christmas?” We all agreed, but to have that conversation with those four and five year olds blessed my day. As I told them, it is really awesome. As adults, let’s be sure to remember how we are blessed by the immense and unconditional love of God and how much He wants us to have a close relationship with Him. Seeing Christmas through the wonder-filled eyes of a child is the best way to walk through this Advent season. It is cool to know the Savior and know He walks beside us in all things. The angel said, “Don’t be afraid. I’m here to announce a great and joyful event that is meant for everybody, worldwide. A Savior has just been born in David’s town, a Savior who is Messiah and Master. Glory to God in the heavenly heights.” Luke 2:10-14 The Message
Christmas Concert Thanks
January School Showcase
Friday night, the SJCS Community was treated to an amazing Christmas concert, featuring student musicians from grades 5-8 and various younger students, who created a worshipful format that emphasized the many gifts of our God. Thank you to everyone who participated and to Mrs. Baham for her wonderful leadership of the SJCS music program!
On Tuesday, January 12, we are hosting our second SJCS Showcase event of the year. That gives all of our school families a month to invite friends to come and learn about the outstanding experiences we have to offer. Next week, each of you will receive a copy our agenda and and an invitation card that you can use to share the story of intentional Christian education and irresistible Christian community that’s happening here at SJCS.
Math Curriculum Info Thank you to everyone who participated in our Math Curriculum Surveys. On Tuesday, Mr. I will be emailing the results of the survey and an information packet for parents. It is a pleasure partnering with you in the education of your children, and we want to encourage you to keep bringing your feedback to Mr. I and your teachers.
Clubs--Coming 2nd Semester Chess Club and Mad Science are coming back! We are also hoping to have at least 2 other new clubs as well. Look for announcements in the near future about these exciting afterschool options!

week
Girls Basketball: The lady Tigers fought hard but lost to Campbell Christian in the first game of the season. The Tigers showed many positive signs as they battled throughout the game. The girls have a busy week, with three games on the schedule. Boys Basketball: The boys fell just short of getting a win in their first game against Campbell Christian this past week. The Tiger defense kept them in the game and gave them a chance to win it with a last second shot. The boys will look to rebound with three games on the schedule this week.

Tiger Tracks Teacher Tales Check this section each week for exciting stories about teachers doing great things in the classrooms of San Jose Christian School Spotlight on Service Each year, we participate as a school in many service projects. Our whole-school project in November supporting City Team was a huge success! (We will also do another whole-school project in the spring —start saving your quarters‌) We have now entered the season of class-level service. Each winter, every class participates in a service project, usually around Christmas. Please take a look at the attached service flyer and choose a project to support this season. An immediate need includes providing names for people in your community who could use an encouraging word this season. Please take a minute and help the 3rd/ 8th graders with their Christmas service project. Click this link to find out more. What a blessing it is to serve together!
Tiger Cubs Check this section each week for exciting news about our youngest Tigers! Preschool Directorship by Suzie Van Ewyk As of January 1, 2016, I will be stepping down from the Preschool/Infant Care directorship. I have decided to put more focus on my Junior Kindergarten teaching position and the new phonics program adopted by the elementary school. The Preschool/ICC is doing quite well, and the current staff is more than capable of taking the program to the next level. I will continue being a supportive member of the Preschool/ICC, and utilize my strengths in curriculum, teacher development, and parent education. I have greatly enjoyed my time as director, but I am ready to leave it in capable hands. Ashley Koepplin will become the active director of the Infant Care Center and Preschool. We can all agree that she did a superb job while I was on maternity leave. Mrs. Ashley will definitely carry on the present ICC/Preschool vision and philosophy. I want to thank you for all your support and I look forward to serving you in this new manner.
