Time for a check-up. On the first day of school, I challenged us all to think about how we each have the ability to CHOOSE our attitudes. How is everyone doing on that? Have you consciously thought about that, and has it made a difference in how you have responded in any situation? Have your friends and family noticed? I would love to hear your feedback, so tell me your stories. In the way of a quick reminder, there is always a choice about the way we approach our day, our family relationships, our jobs. We can have an attitude of grace, concern, care, understanding towards others, or not. Think about it. Don’t you want to have the best day ever, each and every day? That can happen when you choose wisely. Make people notice your attitude in a good way. Leave a positive mark on the people with whom you come in contact with each day. It is a great way to think of others before ourselves, and this is something we are teaching our students each day. Living Inside Out looks like this. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14
No Nuts.....Please! Just a friendly reminder that San Jose Christian School strives to be a nut free campus. We have a number of students who are highly allergic to a variety of nuts and nut products so we ask each student not to bring any peanut items to school (eg, peanut butter sandwich, candy bars where the main ingredient is peanuts, etc.). We appreciate your efforts to keep all of our students as safe as possible while here at school.
Service--Thank you! A huge thank you to everyone who donated goods to help relieve the victims of the wild fires. We were able to gather so many items that they didn't even fit into a huge trailer! The churches that we assisted were enormously grateful for the assistance. A special thank you to Lorie Bowlby, who organized the project, and to Ken Wright, who helped Lorie transport the donations.
It’s Walk-A-Thon Week A huge thank you to everyone who is working on the Walk-A-Thon. Be sure to read all the attachments to the Tiger Tracks. A few big reminders…

Josh H. returned a interception for a touchdown to give the Tigers the lead in the fourth quarter. With Campbell Christian just yards away from tying the game, the Tigers defense stood tall and Kevin P. intercepted to win the game. Current record: 1-1

Tiger Tracks Special Section of the Tiger Tracks for our Preschool “Tiger Cubs” Foster Creativity in Your Child Many people assume that creativity is an inborn talent that their kids either do or do not have. However, creativity is more skill than inborn talent, and it is a skill parents can help their kids develop. Here are 3 simple ways to foster creativity in your child: 1. Provide the resources they need for creative expression. Kids need a lot of time for unstructured, child-directed, imaginative play–unencumbered by adult direction, and that doesn't depend on a lot of commercial items (think: blocks, sticks, water jugs). 2. Encourage your child to fail. Yes, fail–kids who are afraid of failure and judgment will curb their own creative thought. Share the mistakes you've made recently, so they get the idea that it is okay to flub up. 3. Encourage children to read for pleasure and participate in the arts. Limit TV and other screen time in order to make room for creative activities like creating a play, learning to draw, reading every book written by a favorite author.
Teacher Tales Check this section each week for exciting stories about teachers doing great things in the classrooms of San Jose Christian School. Spotlight on Preschool! Welcome Ashleigh Brendlen SJCS has wonderful teachers at all levels, and this week we wanted to spotlight our newest preschool teacher, Ashleigh Brendlen. Ms. Ashleigh joined our staff in September and has been working mainly with the three year olds. She has already proven to be a wonderful addition to our team! Ms. Ashleigh has a Bachelor of Science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, which includes a minor in Child Development. She is currently applying to graduate schools to pursue a Master’s Degree in Special Education. She also volunteers her time at a therapeutic riding center for children with special needs. Ms. Ashleigh has a passion for meeting the needs of individual students, and enjoys sharing God’s love with every child in her care. Please be sure to welcome Ms. Ashleigh when you see her on campus!
