Jenn’s Pen - Early is On Time by: Mrs. Jennifer Thompson Taking time to stop and listen and take advantage of those teachable moments is a key to engaged parenting. Often, those moments come at inopportune times when we are busy, rushed, or focused on something else, but those are critical times in the lives of children and young adults. (With now three adult children of my own, I still take advantage of those teachable moments!) TIME and ATTENTION make the difference in the lives of children. Just like the story of Jesus visiting Mary and Martha’s home, Jesus commended Mary for stopping her chores and listening to Him. She wasn’t too busy for her Savior, and we should not be too busy for the children in our lives. Tiger Tracks Teacher Tales Check this section each week for exciting stories about teachers doing great things in the classrooms of San Jose Christian School Teacher Tales - Let the GAMES BEGIN!! by Mrs. Camarota, Mrs. Nibbelink, and Mr. Bost On November 5, we began our first season of our multigrade lunchtime kickball league. What a blast it has been! More than 60 students ranging in age from 1st grade to 5th grade were divided up into 6 teams. Every Thursday and Friday, students from all grades have been out on the field kicking, running, catching, throwing, cheering, and supporting their friends and classmates! Teams have been divided into colors. They are given points for runs, team spirit, and team sportsmanship. A team can lose the game in runs but still win by their outward display of spirit and sportsmanship. Many teams wear their team colors on the day of their games to earn more points. “Great job kicking the ball!” a 4th grader was heard telling a 1st grader. The team spirit has been incredible! We are coming to the end of our first season on Thursday with our last play-off game. Several teams created their own team posters to support their team, and the signs are currently hanging on the playground. All participants will be receiving tokens for their participation, and our winning team will earn a pizza party. We feel they are all winners! There are no words to describe the overwhelming joy that we have felt over this experience. Our student-athletes have embraced the joy of encouraging others on and off the field. They are truly living “Inside Out” even on the playing field!
