Speak Words of Life
What WAT
by: Mrs. Jennifer Thompson
Our 13th annual Walk-a-Thon (WAT) will take place Oct. 1st. The WAT is a fun-filled SJCS tradition for the entire family! If you are interested in learning how you can be a part of this wonderful event, the SJCS WAT committee will be meeting Tuesday, August 23rd at 8:30am in the school auditorium. This is a great opportunity to learn about the WAT and check out the various volunteer opportunities that help make it a success. For questions contact Melissa Findley, WAT Chair at Melissa@bodl.com.
Welcome back to school! It was an amazing first day of school, with many more to come. The following is a mini review of our first day morning assembly with a link if you’d like to read more. Let’s continue to speak life into each other. In the words of the famous philosopher Toby Mac, “Some days life feels perfect. Other days it just ain’t workin.” True words. That song goes on to say, however, that we can “use our words to inspire, joy will fall like rain when we speak life with the words we say. “ Our words, including the ones we text, email, express with our faces and hands, may be our most powerful tools. They can do things like: Encourage - Discourage Bring joy - Bring sadness Show love - Show hate Bring peace - Disrupt Give hope - Destroy Recognizing the power tools that come from our lips and actions can truly help us realize that the choice to SPEAK LIFE can be transformational in our own lives and in the lives of the others around us. Introducing Our New Librarian: Mrs. Nesdahl We are thrilled to welcome our new librarian to our staff! You may recognize Nicole Nesdahl as she has been a part of the SJCS community since 2007, when her son Josh began as a student here in 1st grade. Josh is now in 10th grade, and Nicole’s daughter Madeline is now in 5th grade at SJCS. Nicole has a Master's degree in Library and Information Science and has worked professionally as a librarian specializing in children's services in several area libraries. She loves connecting with kids and parents over books. She has a variety of ideas to further engage our community in the joys of reading, and we are eagerly anticipating the great things in store for our library program. Nicole is excited to join the SJCS faculty in this new role, and we are excited to have her! sjcstigers
