Join the March Match!

Spring Town Hall Tonight

The Annual Financial Drive, “Pieces of the Puzzle,” has raised $145,000 toward the goal of $250,000. One of our donor families has proposed an offer that if we are able to raise $20,000 during the month of March, they will contribute an additional $10,000. Make your cash or stock gift to SJCS today, and help us earn the March Match!

Our Annual Spring Town Hall is taking place tonight in the Auditorium at 6:30pm. You can come to hear an update on the Superintendent search process, learn about upcoming events this year, and get a preview of new programs for next year.

Love & Logic Classes Coming This year, one of our PLC’s has been working to become trainers for Love and Logic, a parenting and classroom management approach that helps children become responsible decisions makers and allows parents to stay calm and set enforceable limits for their kids. The six-week course is FREE and starts on Monday 3/17. Classes will run from 7pm - 8:30pm in the SJCS auditorium, and childcare is available for those who need it. Registration forms are in the office.

The Facilities Committee Needs Your Help Do you have spring fever? Have a little time to spare for outdoor SJCS improvements? We are in need of volunteers to help with painting, pressure washing, gutter cleaning, hauling tan bark and possibly more. We’d love your help. Snacks or lunch will be included, of course! Come beautify your favorite school! Email Betsy Lindemulder (betsy.lindemulder@gmail.com) or Mary Schrotenboer (mary@schrotenboer.com) for details.

Tiger Tracks 7th Graders Shear Webb

Attendance Hotline

As the victors of the February IXL class competition, the 7th graders got to shave Mr. Webb’s head last week Friday. For all the pictures of the cutting, visit the SJCS Facebook page.

Please remember to call the SJCS Attendance Hotline if your child is out sick. Starting this week, you can find the number on the masthead of the Tiger Tracks for your convenience. (408) 371-4815.

Congratulations to all of the classes who worked hard on their math skills last month. Second place in the competition went to the 5th graders, and third place went to the 1st graders.

End of 3rd Quarter Quarter 3 of the school year ends on Friday, March 21. If your child has any missing work or needs to make up any tests, please have them complete it by the end of the quarter.

Terra Nova Testing Week Is Coming Soon Each year, the SJCS students in Grades 1-8 complete the Terra Nova standardized tests. The results of these tests give parents insights into the academic profile of their children, and they help our school analyze the effectiveness of our curriculum. Please make sure your children are present every day during the week of March 24-28 for the testing periods.

Teacher Tales Check this section each week for exciting stories of teachers doing great things in the classrooms of San Jose Christian School. As you know, our teachers have been working on a variety of projects in their PLC groups this year. One group has been trained as instructors in Love and Logic, the low-stress, low-confrontation method of parenting. As instructors, they will be offering 6 weeks of classes free of charge for our school families. Plan to attend these sessions, share your experiences with other parents, and learn how you can cultivate positive relationships with your children based on responsibility. Here’s what some of our Love & Logic PLC members have to say about their learning experience: Mindy Webb: “The Love and Logic approach is helping my husband and me parent together consistently. These methods allow us to work as a parenting team.” Harry Webb: “I like how Love and Logic helps me know how to navigate arguments. It gives me the tools I need to reduce conflict and help our kids solve their own problems.” Jennifer Baham: “I see Love and Logic as another set of parenting tools. Parenting is a difficult job, and we need resources and community to do the best job we can.” Molly Nelson: “Love and Logic has given me simple, easy tools to effectively parent my kids.” Janelle Hendricks: “Love and Logic teaches our kids how to take responsibility for their actions.” You have received registration flyers for the classes in last week’s Tiger Tracks and by email. More forms are available in the office. Sign up today, as classes start on Monday evening, March 17.

Tiger Sports Spotlight Girls Volleyball The girls volleyball team notched a win against Legacy Christian last week, but dropped both matches against Los Gatos Christian. Their record stands at 4 wins and 3 losses going into this final week of the regular season. Monday and Tuesday, the team takes on Achiever Christian, with both matches at Lincoln Glen Church. Thursday, the girls travel to Mount Hermon’s Fieldhouse to battle Baymonte Christian. Finish strong, Tigers!

Boys Soccer SJCS 6 Legacy 2 The Tigers played a practice game against the Legacy Christian Lions. Legacy was short handed so the Tigers matched them in a 7v7 game. The game forced us to cover more ground and play the ball at our feet more. It was a great practice game. Ryan M got his first goal of the season on a left footed goal. Jared and Atheer notched two, and Nathan L got a good goal too. Justin setup a good shot with an assist, and Ashtin was an assist machine with two. LGCS 4 SJCS 1 This was the second meeting between these two teams and we needed this to stay in contention for first in the south conference. It was a hard fought game by the Tigers. Atheer started the game with a goal in the first minute with a nice assist from David S. That was all the scoring the tigers would do for the rest of the game. The Tigers had a lot of good looks at the goal and should have had a few more goals, but sometimes the ball bounces the other way. The Defense had a pretty good game but the mistakes we made they capitalized on.
