Comprehensive Design Studio __Spring 2014 (ONGOING) This thesis project proposes that the expansive network of open space available in Cleveland becomes a new type of Experimental Urban National Forest. Incubators, laboratories and research facilities become a fundamental part of the city landscape, allowing for field exploration of the evolving interrelationship between city and the dynamic natural systems in which it sits.

“Oakwood Beach was fortunate to get a deal with the state. They made the Governor promise that there would be no development if they left - that the land would become a park. Here in Midland Beach we had to deal with the Mayor, who wouldn’t make that promise. For us, there was no deal.” - Midland Beach resident
