[chess labyrinth]
Mount Royal University, Calgary, 2009
This model captures a snapshot in a 3D chess game as it would be played by opponents in real time. Through the model the human condition is seen as a physical object, whereby the importance is placed on the journey and not the outcome, much as is life.
[human container]
Mount Royal University, Calgary, 2009
Volumetric understanding of human ergonomics and anthropomorphics is applied to the design of a moving storage container. The concept behind the container aims at the end product resembling a piece of dadaist art, emphasized by the manifestation of the user’s actions as seen from the outside.

1:50 scale model
This project explored the deconstruction of the individual components and fundamental massing of staircase design. The result is a surreal piece that is both mass and void at the same time. Open risers, wooden treads encased in glass, and heavy railings toy with these notions.

[urban exploration]
MALL FACADE
Mount Royal University, Calgary, 2010
This fictitious retail design project focused on the topic of “urban exploration, and was to be situated in a new addition of a mall in Calgary. The retail focus became an analogue photography shoppe as one of the many ways that humans explore the urban fabric. Through a detailed spatial design program the design was resolved to
create movement and flow from product to experience, while displaying photography like art and maximizing storage. The concept was further carried into the detail drawings, where the same approach was applied to how the space would actually be built. In this way, the concept became an architectural as well as a consumer device and driving force.

[literature centre]
Undergraduate thesis project Mount Royal University, Calgary, 2011
The undergraduate thesis project for the Interior Design program involved using an existing building within the Calgary downtown core and redesigning it to a project of our personal choosing. A literature centre was designed in order to explore ideas of internal mental growth. The occupancies were derived from three different ways that literature is explored: through interaction, learning, and expressing. The concept of a seed was the main driving force behind the project, resulting in a dynamic space with the emphasis on the journey and process rather than the end result.

[see, remember, imagine] Personal, 2008-2011
Sketching is a way in which we document how we see, experience, and view various subjects. Sketching what we see is a technical way to train our eyes to actually look at something in detail. Sketching what we remember tests our memory and tells us what we find important. Sketching from imagination bridges memory and technique and has the possibility to create completely new and inspiring objects, designs, and images.
Last night I saw a face, And in my dreams I sought to chase, It through the woods and round the bend, To a spot it could not defend. It was running from the world, From which it could not be unfurled, Lest it should fall among the trees bereft, Into an untimely death.

[genius loci]
Personal, 2009-current
This photo series depicts everyday life in urban settings in an attempt to gain access into the essence of genius loci. By environmental manipulation, human interaction is shaped through the lens of the character that makes up the city, something neither tangible or nameable. These photos capture moments within the urban fabric of cities that aid in defining who the elusive character of that city is.

[europe 2011] Personal, 2011
In August 2011 I traveled around Europe for a month. This was an important personal journey for me to experience first-hand artworks, cities, cultures, and architecture, which I have rigorously studied. I kept a travel sketchbook throughout my journey, as well as ticket stubs from important sites and museums. This expedition allowed me to develop my own personal architectural study.
