APRIL MONTHLY SOCIAL: EGG-CELLENT CELEBRATION

Come join us at Mayfair Community Center for a night of celebrating Easter! We will make egg themed art and enjoy some wonderful "egg" treats.

All participants must be able to function in a 1:8 staff to participant ratio and be independent with personal care needs or bring attendant with them.

MAY MONTHLY SOCIAL: TACO NIGHT!

Love tacos? Come join us for a night of making your own tacos. We will have a variety of sides such as chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, and much more. We'll even make salsa from scratch.

Participants must be able to function in a 1:8 staff to participant ratio and be independent with personal care needs or bring an attendant with them.

HIRLN- SAN PEDRO SQ. SHARKS NIGHT

HIRLN (Head Injury Recreation and Leisure Network) wants you to join us for a fun night at San Pedro Square Market to partake in dining out with friends and watching the local Sharks game on the big screen. We will decide as a group which eatery to dine on. Drop off and pick up will be determined closer to event date.

Please register in advance either on-line or in-person at nearest community center.

Participants must be able to participate in a 1:8 participant to staff ratio and be able to attend to their own personal care needs or have an attendant with them. Attendant will need to register for program or pay for own fees if wanting to participate.

HIRLN- PAINT NIGHT

HIRLN (Head Injury Recreation and Leisure Network) invites you to join us for a night of painting and fun! We will be meeting at the Bottle and Bottega in Campbell to follow an instructor as they guide our way to create a masterpiece of the groups choosing.

Must register in advance either on-line or in-person at nearest community center.

Participants must be able to participate in a 1:8 participant to staff ratio and be able to attend to their own personal care needs or have an attendant with them. Attendant will need to register for program or pay for own fees if wanting to participate.

LET'S PLAY GAMES!

Come and play some social games such as bingo, Loteria, Connect Four, Jenga, and more! We will get to play many games to stimulate our brains and to socialize with our friends! Participants must be able to participate in a 1:6 staff to participant ratio and independent with personal care needs or provide an attendant.

Around The Town Club

Join us for a night on the town! This social club utilizes community activities which are selected by the group to improve socialization, leisure awareness and independent living skills. Try new things and explore you community with the support and encouragement of friendly, knowledgeable staff.

The first night of program will be held at the Camden Community Center. Location thereafter varies based on participants chosen activities. Members must be able to participate within a 1:6 staff to participant ratio and be independent with their personal care needs. Please note: registration fee covers staffing cost only. Additional fees may be required based on chosen activities. Masks will be strongly recommended when at the community center.

Simply Cooking

This introductory course: Simply Cooking, is for individuals with disabilities (ages 16+) and it covers basic kitchen safety, basic menu planning, and preparing simple dishes. Menus will include breakfast, lunch, dinners, and desserts. Class includes lecture, observation, and hands on preparation. Participants will receive instructional materials to take home. Class is conducted in a teaching kitchen which utilizes gas burners.

Participants must be able to function in a 1:4 staff to participant ratio, independent with personal care needs or provide an attendant for personal care.

Classes will be held at Almaden Community Center - Teaching Kitchen (Upstairs)

Spring Classes

DANCE FOR FUN (INCLUSIVE)

Come join us for some fun group dancing! Enjoy a new theme every week, with an open dance studio to dance your heart out! There is no right way to dance, so put on your dancing shoes and let's get up and dance together! Participants must be able to participate in a 1:6 staff to participant ratio and independent with personal care needs or provide an attendant.

INCLUSIVE ACTIVE SPORTS!

Let's play some table tennis, also known as ping pong! How about some basketball, or even some brisk walking as a group? This group is an inclusive group for those who want to come socialize and play table tennis, basketball, and stay active with friends! Participants must be able to participate in a 1:6 staff to participant ratio and independent with personal care needs or provide an attendant.

Adapted Bowling

It's a strike! Join us for our immensely popular bowling program to polish your game while supportive staff and companions cheer you on. Learn technique and etiquette, socialize with new peers, and have a rolling good time.

This program will be located at Bowlero San Jose (5420 Thornwood Drive). Participants must be able to function in a 1:8 staff to participant ratio, and be independent with personal care needs or bring an attended with them.

Wheels On Fire

Basketball, Disc Golf, Football, Bocce, Softball, Field Events You play it, we offer it! Wheels on Fire is a sports team designed for athletes with physical disabilities who enjoy a variety of sports at any level No wheelchair, no problem We have extra chairs for use during program

The team practices basic sport skills, team cooperation and rules of competitive play We also focuses on exposure to a variety of wheelchair sports with the potential for competitive skill development. We may also engage in special holiday themed events or field trips. Snacks may be provided. Pre registration is highly encouraged or the program may be cancelled due to low enrollment.

Participants must be able to participate in a 1:5 staff to participant ratio and be independent with personal care needs or bring an attendant. Masks are highly recommended for the duration of the activity.

No program on Sunday, April 30th!

Power Soccer

Do you use a power wheelchair? Join this one of three classes with the San Jose Teams in the electrifying and growing sport of power soccer! Whether you just want to learn the sport or aspire to compete in future tournaments, this is the program for you. Participants will learn power soccer techniques, develop skills, practice drills, and prepare for competition. Participants must be able to function in a 1:8 staff to participant ratio, independent with personal care needs or provide an attendant for personal care.

*This class is designed for power wheelchair users.

Beginner Wheelchair Basketball

Nothin' but net! Come out and shoot some hoops with your friends while you learn the exciting sport of wheelchair basketball. You will learn new techniques, skills, and practice drills. All ability levels welcome. No sports chair, no problem; we have extra sports chairs available to use during program. Tournament opportunities are available for big gamers. Don't miss out! Participants must be able to function in a 1:10 staff to participant ratio, and independent with personal care needs.

Advanced Wheelchair Basketball

This is a Wheelchair Basketball practice for advanced players who are competing at a high level. Don't miss out! Participants must be able to function in a 1:10 staff to participant ratio and independent with personal care needs or provide an attendant for personal care.

All ability levels welcome. This class is designed for manual wheelchair users. This class is on Wednesdays for 4 week.

Bascom Group Arts Class

This program is geared towards groups of people with disabilities. Come check out the Bascom Community Center and relax with some arts and crafts. This program is designed to improve fine motor skills, creativity and social skills. You will be guided through art projects and specialty crafts.

Organization's staff must accompany clients in 4 to 1 ratio. This class is not designed for individuals without staff/attendant.

Mayfair Group Arts

Come join us at Mayfair Community Center for some arts and crafts fun! Throughout the program participants will improve fine motor skills, increase social skills, and learn to expand their creativity. Each class will be guided by a City Staff. This program is geared towards groups of people with disabilities. Organization's Staff must accompany clients 1:4 staff to participant ratio and masks are highly recommended.

Fun With Arts

Come and enjoy different art forms such as coloring, drawing, painting and more! This art class is directed towards teen and young adults with disabilities. Each week we will try different art forms. We'll get to socialize with others by showing our art with each other once completed. Participants must be able to participate in a 1:6 staff to participant ratio and independent with personal care needs or provide an attendant.

Scrapbook Club

Enjoy being creative with art and writing? Come join us to design and build your very own scrapbook. Fill your book with pictures, memories, and thoughts. Participants may have the option to follow each night's different theme or create their own. Also participants are welcomed to bring own supplies such as old magazines, pictures, or other scrape papers.

Spring Classes Youth Programs

FUN FOR ALL!

This program focuses on fun with music, games, arts and crafts, movement activities, and a field trip This play program is designed for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders Children should bring a sack lunch to class each week Participants must be able to function in a 1 to 3 staff to participant ratio and independent with personal care needs or provide an attendant for personal care. Attendants will be required to pass a City of San Jose background check in programs that serve youth under 18 years of age.
