Chess Advanced
Co-ed Chess class is designed for students who were in previous Starters class or with some knowledge and teaches important opening concepts, recognition of tactical themes, calculation of material exchanges, and elementary endga.m.e. Students of the class can also participate in training ga m es with other participants In addition to learning the funda.m.entals of chess, this class will promote the growth and develop m ent of skills in concentration, logic, decision making, planning, and self-discipline

Public Speaking
This course teaches young students the essentials of building confidence in public speaking Taught using the fun concepts of (don’t) show and tell, storytelling (scary and funny stories!), reciting poems, pretend games, this is an excellent class to start developing confidence in young students in a fun way The participants learn how to stand tall and speak confidently in front of a group. They begin to understand the concepts and importance of maintaining eye contact, good posture, volume and expressions

Yoga Gentle
This gentle and slower pace yoga class allows you to practice strength, flexibility, and balance while allowing enough time in each pose to experience the mind body connection This class can help improve breathing, balance and self-awareness Even though gentle yoga isn't "beginner yoga" the pace allows us to cover several variations and everyone is welcomed to join! COVID guidelines will be implemented and practiced at each class meeting. The City of San José will continue to adhere to the county guidelines *Bring your own yoga mat

Tai Chi
Tai Chi is an internal form of Chinese Martial Arts known for its slow, graceful movements and breathing techniques. It has become a popular form of exercise all over the world Like most exercises, practicing Tai Chi can help one improve their strength, flexibility, circulation, and relaxation. CHINESE FOLK DANCE
It is never too late to learn Chinese Folk Dance. This group is led by an experienced volunteer Chinese Folk dance instructor You will learn various Chinese Folk Dances and have the opportunity to perform in community center events. Anyone can join no experience needed A fun dance experience while learning a bit of Chinese culture and making friends

Quilting is done on bed spreads, quilt-art wall hangings, clothing, and a variety of textile products. This group loves to design beautiful unique quilts The class is for beginners and experienced quilters Lots of helpful advice is available

Tech Time
Join the Alum Rock Branch Library in a partnership with the Evergreen Community Center (PRNS) as we endeavor to create a virtual friendly space for Active Adults while providing a virtual adaptive technologies progra m ming for this community of life-long learners. During each session, 10 active adults will have the opportunity to experience a range of tech devices (iPhone, iPads, Kindles, laptops ) while receiving virtual support and practice with tech instructors.

Second Harvest Food Bank
Everyone is welcome to join us to pick up free groceries provided by the Second Harvest of Silicon Valley Sign ups are welcome on the day of distribution First come first serve basis Pick ups are usually the first and third Monday of every month Feel free to pick up a calendar with the distribution dates!

Come join us for lunch! We serve Monday-Friday at 11:30 a.m. for active adults 60 and older. There is a suggested contribution of $3. For guests 60 and under there is a $9 guest fee Eligible participants will not be denied a meal if they do not contribute Please contact the front desk at 408-270-2220 to make a meal reservation. All meal reservations need to be made at least one day in advance Pick up your lunch menu today!
