INFORMATION: Mike started “the goose” in 1984 with a table and an umbrella and a margarine tub for a cash register, selling produce from his organic garden. He got a good sun tan that year waiting for customers. After a few years of growth his wife Mary Louise, an architect, noticed that Mike had the winters off and she did not, so she quit architecting and joined the business. It grew some more. Then their youngest son Vico graduated from college and worked a couple of years for a big organic grower, but Snow Goose stole him back along with his wife Erika, they represent the second generation and now run Snow Goose Produce. Now they all run the place, except for Mike who looks after the chickens. We farm the long strip where the farm stand is located and a few acres at the home farm, five minutes away, raising organically all the seasonal vegetables and a few oddballs as well. The stand is full of other good stuff too: organic eggs, artisan cheeses, wine, craft beers, fish, crab, oysters, jams, sauces, fresh baked goods—you get the picture. Also, we’re famous for our immodest ice cream cones.

INFORMATION: In 2008, there were only 29 dairies left in Skagit County, down from 56 in 2000. In fact, Skagit County lost 72% of its family dairy farms during the last 25 years. Golden Glen Creamery is bucking the trend: holding fast and even expanding, to the delight of dairy lovers around here. Each of our products is all-natural and handcrafted with milk, fresh from the cows right here at the creamery. This allows our customers access to what we think are the freshest, best-tasting dairy products on the market. Golden Glen Creamery does not and will not use thepreservatives, stabilizers, emulsifiers, fortifiers and coloring agents found in so many products today. Our products have a distinctive, amazing taste that cannot be replicated using other methods. Golden Glen uses a gentle, slowbatch pasteurization process that is not commonly used with corporate creameries. Our process removes potentially harmful bacteria while preserving vitamins and helpful enzymes that are damaged by high temperatures. We believe that our special process results in 1864690 superior-tasting, more wholesome products.

Although we’ve outgrown our original farm—we source from certified organic farms throughout the country and world to make our delicious products—you can still visit the farm that inspires us. Our original Home Farm is a working organic farm where we grow blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, sweet corn, and pumpkins. Our roadside stand serves farm-grown organic produce, homemade ice cream, berry shortcake, espresso, and wholesome snacks. Enjoy a picnic near our native pollinator flower garden with views of the river and glacier covered mountains. Learn about this unique place that continues to propel the organic and regenerative agriculture movements. The scenic drive alone is well worth the trip! OPEN MAY - OCTOBER
