Arts at the Port Allen Family Focus Gallery

This year’s Allen Family Focus Gallery is a fanciful and colorful display of 2D and 3D mixed media work from two talented regional artists.

Kathy Ross uses world’s materials and the world’s innuendos to create fanciful tin and mixed media sculpture. The result is lustrous pieces that call the viewer to study all the narrative detail that she incorporates. Ross uses a hot soldering process that comes from the stained glass world and armature materials from the building industry. The tin as the basis of the work contributes cultural iconography. Judith Heim is trained as a designer and her work is colorful, whimsical and narrative in nature. She layers her work using collage and painting to create igures cloaked in interesting pattern and texture. Heim is inluenced by the unseen world, using dream imagery and architectural forms. She works in a variety of materials, including water media, torn paper collage, and paint.
