Explore Tribal Nations

The Samish and Swinomish tribal nations are indigenous to the Fidalgo Island area.

Both are stops on the annual Canoe Journey, which features traditional dress, dances, food and other cultural sharing.

Both also cohost a cultural day each summer at Bowman Bay.

Samish Indian Nation

The Samish Indian Nation owns the Fidalgo Bay RV Resort, featuring scenic views of Fidalgo Bay and access to the Tommy Thompson Trail, which can be taken into town by bicycle or on foot.

Swinomish Indian Tribal Community

The Swinomish Casino & Lodge is located on Highway 20, just east of Anacortes. Views from the building take in the land that the Coast Salish people have called home for thousands of years.

The tribe also operates an RV park and Swinomish Links Golf Course.
