Flowers for the Big Day There are so many incredible flowers and floral styles to choose from, that picking the one just right for your wedding can seem like a challenge. Discussing your thoughts and plans for your wedding day with your professional floral designer will help immensely. We are trained and experienced at translating your wishes into your dream reality.
Most brides prefer to talk to several different designers until they find the one who really seems to understand their vision. And it is such a relief to know that you have found someone who is committed to seeing YOUR ideas come to life. And the accomplished feeling of ticking one more thing off your “to do” list cannot be under played. 2015 is going to be a great year for fun, new floral trends. But remember, this is your wedding day and it should be as absolutely unique as you, your fiancée, and your life together.

Bountiful Bouquets
By Lori Manduchi at Enchanted Florist
A lushly gorgeous mix of blooms with different varieties and textures and sizes. Can be a combination of closely related colors but more often seen as monochromatic bouquets. Creamy whites with ivory, champagne and taupe or reds on every shade from candy apple to garnet to the richest burgundy. The look is lush, plush and exceedingly elegant. Best for classically traditional weddings. If the glitter and romance of the Great Gatsby era appeals to you, this is the style to choose.
Bohemian Rhapsody
Glorious jewel tones blended with natural organic elements, mosses, stones, vines, fruits and sprinkled with wild garden flowers such as peonies, garden roses, clematis, freesia, jasmine, and dahlias. The look is eclectic, colorful and fun. Perfect for the bride who enjoys natural, casually artistic bouquets.
Modern Romance
Clean lines, architecturally elegant containers and crisply contemporary displays of flowers are the hallmarks of this style. All white blooms with a splash of bright color such as vibrant yellow, pure hot pink, or deep crimson are carefully arranged in to sweeping stylized floral art.
English Garden.
A softer, sweeter style of design. More appealing to brides who prefer a shabby chic esthetic utilizing a combination of vintage accents, airy fabrics and elegant lace mixed with the rough charm of burlap and twine. Barn wood and heirloom silver. The best floral choices might include sweet peas, baby roses, larkspur, delphinium, hydrangea or even simple bouquets of gypsophila.

Looking Your Best You have it all covered right? Perfect man? Check. Pretty dress? Check. Flawless skin? Uh oh! After your new husband and wedding dress, the one thing people will be talking about on your big day is how glowing you looked. But in order to do that, you need to look and feel your best. With this in mind, it is essential to start a beauty regimen early so you can keep yourself on track to achieve perfection.

2 months prior: - Have a qualified medical specialist inject dermal fillers to give a boost to sagging skin, or fill lines that irritate and age you. 1 month prior: - Host a Bridal Botox Party! Don’t forget about your mom, grandmother, and sister… help everyone be wrinkle free for your big day. - Get a brighter smile by whitening your teeth using an at home regimen that can improve your color by 4-5 shades in just 2 weeks…say cheese! Day Of: - Hire a licensed professional that uses quality cosmetic products…you worked hard to look the way you do, so don’t sabotage it now!!! All eyes will be focused on you, but if you have followed these steps, you can be confident that you are looking your best and feeling your best, which means you will be glowing on your big day for all to talk about!

Gowns For 2015
By Pam Reed at Alicia's Bridal
The gowns for 2015 are all about the neckline and the back detail. Do you want to wow your guests as you walk down the aisle? Low, sometimes really low backs, with and without illusion, really showcase the bride that wants to show off her figure. For those brides that want a gorgeous back but don’t want to bare it all, the illusion backs with lace detail are amazing on every body. There are so many necklines to choose from in 2015; we are loving it. The strapless, sweetheart neckline is very popular, but now you can add even more interest with an illusion neckline, artfully placed lace appliqués and a little sleeve or strap detail. Off the shoulder necklines are making a comeback again too... sexy, but still a little coverage while showing off
those great shoulders! There are a lot of choices now and the bride can really customize a gown in so many ways with a little alteration magic. We can add sleeves, straps, a keyhole back, make a gown more modest by raising the neckline and/or back - it makes it so much fun to work individually with each bride and make her vision come true. The silhouettes that we saw the most were the fit and flare, and the tulle or organza ball gown. But that wasn’t all! The basque waist is back which focuses attention on those slim waists and makes them appear even slimmer. You will also find drop waistlines with a full skirt so you enjoy both the body conscious top and a full skirt to twirl the night away! Lace slip dresses have a beautiful

A Happy Tradition The tradition of the wedding ring is timehonored and began in antiquity. While the wedding band is of the older history, the engagement ring is of more recent development as a loving symbol of betrothal. I am so pleased to be a part of the happy tradition of such lovely and meaningful jewelry and it has been my profession for over sixty years. How fortunate and humble I feel to be a part of these events. I have also seen great changes through the years.
By Douglas Burton, Burton Jewelers
When I began, a half carat diamond was considered generous and my own mother’s engagement ring was of that size but through the years expectation has grown larger so that many couples select a carat diamond. In the early days the diamond solitaire was the style of choice and usually it was made in yellow gold while the bride’s mother usually had platinum or white gold rings. Now the style is more baroque in feeling with a multitude of small diamonds, often micro-pavé, surrounding a larger center stone. While these rings are delightful to see, they do present a bit of an upkeep problem. The larger center diamonds or other gemstones are of more lasting value than the small stones, as well. The other day I received a kind note from a young lady to thank me for the design of her ring which she used in one ring as an engagement/wedding ring and since she wanted a one-of-a-kind ring she selected a lovely Burmese Ruby. I was touched by her note. I mention this to again suggest that your rings can be designs that are unique to you and do not just need to be diamond but can be of other gemstones or perhaps even natural-color diamonds and the metals choice can be in yellow gold, rose gold, even green gold, and of course platinum or palladium. We are fortunate to live in a time when you can select from so many choices and I am pleased to have been part of this selection process for so many years. I value tradition but I also enjoy contemporary design. Since bridal jewelry is worn every day it is important that it be well-made and we are fortunate to have some of the best jewelers right here in the United States and even here in our own state. Quality does last as does love!

Skagit County Wedding ByVenues Oralie Chapman Skagit County has become a popular place for weddings as more brides recognize the incredible natural beauty, gorgeous venues, and attractive prices offered in the area. We are fortunate to have so many wonderful choices for wedding venues right here in our community. The first step to planning your wedding is to choose and book a venue. The venue(s) you choose will set the mood for your wedding and will also have a big impact on the cost of your event. Keep in mind that you can often save money by having a wedding on a Friday, Sunday, weekday or in the off-season. Single site wedding and reception venues are the most popular and economical way to go but if you decide on separate locations, it is a good idea to choose venues that are close in proximity to avoid losing some guests. When comparing venues be sure to find out exactly what is included with your rental fee and get a list of any “extras” that you will be asked to pay for such as facility monitor, parking attendants, use of tables, linens, dishes, etc. Some venues will require outside rentals of caterers, tables, etc. while others may require you to use their in-house catering or other exclusive vendors which could add to your costs. It’s important to compare apples to apples, so be sure to make a spreadsheet of all that is included at each venue and weigh the differences in pricing as a total package, not just the basic rental fee. Price isn’t everything. One of the most important considerations in
choosing your venue is the feeling or theme that you are trying to create for your wedding. Don’t book a space from a bridal show or website viewing alone. Visit the venue; picture yourself walking down the aisle and what your guests will see on your wedding day. Best wishes in finding the perfect location for your special day! Be sure to reserve early, as wedding venues can book up quickly, especially during wedding season June through September. Here is a list of some of the beautiful venue choices we have right here in the Skagit Valley:
