outdoor movies to our list of events for 2012. We have a movie line up geared toward family entertainment with a little bit of something for everyone and the best part is, all movies are FREE! Watch for Starlight Cinemas to pop up in a Mount Vernon park near you, or check out the rest of this guide for our summer schedule including movie information and screening locations. We are also working on making one of the newest additions to our park system, the Bakerview Dog Park, even more user friendly. We understand the importance of this facility and want to give all our users the best experience possible. Look for shade trees and a new water fountain, with an extra ground fountain for dogs, coming soon.

Also, if you haven’t made it down to the new Skagit Riverwalk in Downtown Mount Vernon, stop by and take a stroll. Phase two of this project, connecting the south end of the existing path at the Westside Bridge along the river to the Moose Lodge, will begin this summer. Not only will this Riverwalk be an extremely beautiful addition to Mount Vernon and a great place to take in all Downtown has to offer, but it is also a large portion of the updated flood protection plan. Take advantage of the newest walking path in Mount Vernon, you won’t be disappointed. Larry Otos, CPRP Director, Mount Vernon Parks & Recreation

Skyhawks Beginning Golf Camp One of our most popular programs, Skyhawks Golf focuses on building the confidence of young athletes through proper technique and refining the essential skills of the game. As we know, golf is a challenging and lifelong sport, so young athletes need proper focus on the fundamentals of form, swinging, putting, and body positioning. To assist in this training, Skyhawks has adopted the SNAG (Starting New At Golf) system to its curriculum. Developed by PGA professionals, SNAG is specifically designed for the entry-level player; SNAG simplifies instruction so that young players can make an easy & effective transition onto the golf course. No need to bring your own clubs, all equipment is provided. There is no reason to fret your shortcomings as these great parks are all within a short driving distance.
