How did you come up with the name THE KILLING FLOOR? The name actually came from an old blues tune by Howlin Wolf. Not too many people have called that one but that’s what it is.
Photo Contest!
The graphics are amazing who does them? I do most of the graphics. The Record boards were actually from an art project my friend Brian Woida put together where he did some crazy shit with all these photographs of his color coordinated record collection. He’s a rad dude, and my girlfriend actually had the idea to use some of them as board graphics (thanks Jen!). Other than those two boards, I do all the artwork for the board graphics and logos and everything. It’s really rad because I get to use tkf as an outlet to make my art and do something really functional and productive with it too, it’s a good combo. Your graphics seem to be music inspired. What type of music? The brand is really heavily inspired musically. A lot of old blues, jazz, classic rock, that kind of stuff. I’m trying to do something different than what people may be used to seeing a lot. Really i’m just trying to do what I dig and hope that people are into it as well. What a team? how did you do that? Yeah, I’m super hyped on everyone we have. It feels really small and super solid. The guys all kill it and deserve to get hooked up. I’m glad to be able to hook them up. Mostly just homies, or homies of homies here and there. It all just came together I guess. I’m really happy with the team. They all do a great job of repping TKF and holding it down, and they all have really specific styles of skating that they do. They all four make for a really well rounded, interesting team, which I think is really important for a company to have. It’s so good when you can make a video and have so many different styles all mesh together.
What’s coming next in TKF? We have a lot of stuff in the works, a whole new line of boards and soft goods for summer/fall, I been working really hard on a lot of new fresh graphics, so definitely expect to see more stuff along the same vibe as all the stuff that’s out now. There’s a promo video in the works that is gonna be super sick... and there’s a secret board series project that I’m slowly piecing together, that is meant to help hype the team riders and their hometown shops that have supported all of them and supported TKF. But that’s all i can say right now.
