WELCOME TO
TEMPLE UNIVERSITY
We are so glad you are here! As you know, there are many things you will need to learn to “maneuver” through our different systems. We put together this list of information for you to get you acclimated to the Temple campus and the city of Philadelphia.
BUILDING ACCESS: You will be issued keys to the University Housing & Residential Life Central Office at 1910 Liacouras Walk, 3rd floor. You will also be issued a TUID Photo card that is used for access to the residence halls, the dining hall as well as the central office.
MEALS: A meal plan is provided for you at no cost through Temple University’s dining services during the fall and spring semester. You will need to present your TUID Card to the cashier for “payment”. The meal plan can be used at the Esposito Dining Hall (aka J&H), Howard Gittis Student Center Food Court, Morgan Hall Food Court and other on campus locations offering meals once for every meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner and 4th meal).

MAIL: Each residence hall has its own mailboxes. While you can have the option of having mail sent to the halls, we recommend that you send all personal and professional mail to the central office; address should read as follows: First and Last Name (Note that mail for married spouses and domestic partners must have the name of the employee listed on the mail) Temple University Office of University Housing & Residential Life 1910 Liacouras Walk, Suite 301 Philadelphia, PA 19122-6027 Mail (including packages) arrives several times a day to 1910 Liacouras walk where you will have a personal mailbox. Unfortunetly, mail does not arrive on the weekends because the office is closed. The Howard Gittis Student Center has a small post office next to the bookstore on the lower level. You can purchase stamps and send packages from that location. Additionally, a mile away, there is also a US Post Office (905 N Broad St, Philadelphia, PA).
TELEPHONES: On c ampus phone c alls : • For Main Campus offices, dial 1 plus the last four digits (any Temple number beginning with 204 can have the first three digits replaced with a 1). • Temple University directory assistance for all campuses is available by dialing 215-204-7000 (1-7000) Off campus phone calls: • To dial off-campus from your office phone, you first dial 9 + 1, then the rest of the number. In the 215 and 267 area codes (where Temple is located), it is necessary to dial 1 plus the 215 or 267 area code to call any local telephone number.
Voic email : • Each professional staff is provided with one voice mailbox for their office. To access your box, you must call 1-9595 or *5; conveniently. You can access your box from any phone by dialing 1-9595 (215-204-9595). The prompt will ask for your mailbox, which is the last five digits of your phone number, e.g. 8-1942. You will also need to set a password, which the system will walk you through. For your office phone, it is our policy that you keep an updated voicemail message, assisting callers to know your availability. Example 1: Hello, you have reached Marguerite Moore, Resident Director for the Peabody Residence Hall. I am unavailable to take your call, please leave your name, number and brief message and I will return your call as soon as possible. If this is an emergency, please hang up and call Temple Police at 1-1234. Thank you and have a great day.
