FSU PRIMARY HEALTH CLINIC IS A CLINIC WHO SERVES AS AN INTERDISCIPLINARY & INSTRUCTIONAL FACILITY SEEKING INNOVATIVE DESIGN SOLUTIONS FOR THE RAPID GROWTH THE CLINIC IS EXPERIENCING.
FSU HEALTHCARE PROJECT
P R I M A R Y
Area: 20,928 sq/ft Duration: 12weeks Program: Revit, Lumion, Photoshop, Illustrator
H E A L T H
For the design of this clinic, I was tasked to leverage evidence-based design thinking to advance the design for the next phase of an actual healing, health space in Tallahassee, Fl. Our client placed emphasis on creating a space that redefined primary care clinics and welcomed all residents of Tallahassee. The new clinic was inspired by the essence of a lotus flower. flower With integrated aspects of accessible health care and community resources, this clinic embodies the essence of purity and resilience both within the patient and the community. Combining these design principles contextualizes the natural world with the 21st century to create an essence of healing from the inside out.
A shower in the staff area adds LEED points to the buildings sustainability.
Directional floor transitions aid in wayfinding for staff and patients. The incorporation of curved walls throughout the clinic softly divides spaces while making other horizontal and vertical planes strong.
An impromptu meeting space allows staff to communicate and exchange information efficiently and privately.
Open accessibility to equipment area provides easier access to increase productivity and is in close proximity to exam & procedure rooms.

This curve reduces obstruction into the hallways, keeping the natural rhythm that is created within.
Clinical Floor Plan SCALE: 1” = 20’ - 0”
Healing is not linear, therefore the circulation of the floor plan emulates a fluid motion. Open sight-lines help to create a sense of tranquility for the visitor as the surrounding elements both interior and exterior, play off each other.

WAITING ROOM As patients and community members arrive to Primary Health they are greeted with uplifting hues of color and natural textures. The waiting room provides a variety of seating arrangements that accommodate different modes of communication and varying abilities. abilities A partition wall provides patient privacy and distinguishes zones between reception and waiting area, this emphasizes the functionality & utility of the space. The community room is directly adjacent to the waiting room so those coming in for classes or events can go straight to their designation rather than crossing staff zones.

E c o s p a COLLABORATION Beyond the Box Project 50,000 Sq/Ft. Duration: 4 weeks Program: Revit, Photoshop,Lumion
IN THE DESIGN WORLD, WORKING COLLABORATIVELY WITH OTHERS IS A VITAL SKILL FOR DESIGNERS TO HAVE AND CAN HELP SUCCESSFULLY BRING A PROJECT TO FRUITION. THEREFORE, GROUP WORK CAN BE THE KEY TO A SUCCESSFUL LEARNING EXPERIENCE AND A JOB WELL DONE.
The location of Eco Spa was a vacant retail space, creating opportunity for rebirth of a new environment. The goal of the new space was to improve the lives and livelihoods of the Tallahassee community through multi-level wellness. By offering a variety of treatments, classes and regimens within the facility, it aims to enhance the overall health of clients. Organic forms stem from the facade inviting curiosity by passing residents and mirrors the natural environment that took shape within facility.
37
Eco Spa’s design was inspired by the human affinity for nature and will
encapsulate worldly characteristics & rituals to be integrated into the environment. The center of the facility acts as the heart of community gathering. A variety of wellness specialties branch from the center, creating a fluid motion of circulation throughout the space. Depth will be emphasized by use of multi-level planes and scale of textures. Natural elements are abstracted to emulate organic architectural forms and to contrast the linearity of height and scale. A low arousal color palette fused with wood & stone textures embody the familiar aspects of earthly attributes. With the culmination of these principles, the goal of Eco Spa fosters multi-level wellness and an enlightened user experience.
The entrance of Eco Spa warmly welcomes visitors and sparks curiosity to continue throughout the space. Flooring transitions intuitively guide the visitor through the space, enforcing a familiar and comfortable environment.

The Reservoir The Reservoir serves as an area of solitude that allows members to interact amongst others in the community while taking a holistic approach to exercise and relaxation. Recessed LED lights act as a sense of way-finding following the shape of the pool, creating curiosity to move deeper into the space. Changing planes of the ceilings defines personal and communal zones.
Levitation Bath The Levitation Bath is located within the spa and offers an another haven for clients to renew their physical, mental and spiritual state. The concrete path leads to the circular portal where an existential experience awaits.
Serenity Spring Integrated organic forms add height and scale in the space, evoking inspiration and relaxation for clients awaiting their treatment. Cascading water and natural light fuse the boundaries between indoors and outdoors soothing their senses with visual elements and natural sounds. The water surrounding the interior, induces clients into a paradisiac state.Â
The HAven A serene introduction of natural elements subdue stress and begin to engulf the client in a relaxed state of being. Making one feel immersed benefits the cognitive, affective and behavioral lifestyle. The path creates a fluid journey towards the jacuzzi and carves into the treatment room integrating water as a part of their experience.Â

SOCKWELL IS A COMPRESSION SOCK COMPANY THAT FOCUSES ON CREATING SUSTAINABLE, IMPRESSIONABLE SOCKS FOR ALL OF LIFE’S ADVENTURES WITHOUT COMPROMISING STYLE AND COMFORT.
S o c k w e l l
For this project I was tasked with designing a workplace that would enhance company needs while embodying their values and accommodate the companies growth. With great emphasis on comfort and sustainability, my goal was to create a workplace environment that broke the barriers of traditional work settings and invited inspiration for the employees as well as the clients. The concept Hygge Hygge, which translates to ‘wellbeing’ drove the design for this project. This is incorporated in the design by providing more informal, comfortable areas where employees can work, meet, and socialize, all while promoting movement and interaction throughout the workspace. The gathering of modest colors and sustainable matierals and textiles will reinforce the companys culture and warmth while nourishing employees daily needs while movement throughout the space will inspire the individuals to reach further to make their impact on the world and amongst each other.

Just as the dawn of each day, the first waking moments and first call to action can determine how your whole day will be. A first impression or a reception area can have these similar effects on employee & client moods based off the environments ambiance. When arriving to SockWell, both client and employees are welcomed by the warmth and familiarity of natural textures and progressive introductions to form. Subconsciously this gives the viewer an idea of the developing and organic flowing nature of SockWell. A juxtaposition of pattern, pattern smooth lines combined with bold forms pay respect to a calming color palette, and suggest the fundamental characteristics of the company’s style and their mission of what is now and the direction they are headed in the future. The reception area is simply a hint of what is grounded at the core of the company’s culture and walks you through the story of SockWell.

LEVEL 2 Work Cafe & Product Development SockWell’s subliminal boundaries are not only are represented in their culture but come to fruition in the physical aspects of the workspace. Changes in flooring material as well as the changes in surface materials and tones, define the work-zone to work cafe. Placing emphasis on the open, honest work environment the company upholds and believes in. Lack of physical boundaries such as walls gives the workplace a less traditional structure that encourages employee engagement. Clear unobstructed views provide access to daylight while nourishing the minds of the employees and greenery flourishing within.

Grocer Inc. requested a conceptual beauty “experience” shop prototype to attract key cosmetics brands to migrate into the supermarket channel. It was my job to create a proprietary over aching ‘envelope’ concept and brand positioning; that allowed for individual cosmetic brand adaptations to align the experience to the store environment and intended consumer journey to create an effective design. The design conveys the physical brand to the guest with innovation though merchandising, sales process, services, technology, and operations.
Glistened Beauty is aimed towards focusing on what is best for the client and focuses attention to self care. Pops of color throughout boost the energy and creative thinking in consumers encouraging new ideas and self confidence. LED lighting helps to highlight the space to ensure the best quality of flattering lighting for the products on display and for clients when they’re testing the products before they by. Signage on top of the gondolas helps with way-finding and navigation during the consumers journey. As designers, we have influence on how well a company can succeed in sales and consumption. We also have a hand in how consumers feel in a space therefore, effecting their reactions to a products outcome. That is why it is our job to design a space that is functionally sound in it’s overall environment in which enhances a companies success, and leaves consumers feeling and looking better from the inside out.

Lighting fixtures are an important part of a room’s personality and also indispensable to its function. We were given the challenge of designing and communicating details of a lighting fixture that meets given functional, aesthetic and fabrication goals. The Stork was inspired by the shape and movement of a storks wings when in flight. While in flight, the wings create a graceful, yet dynamic rhythm. rhythm The curvilinear forms bounce light off of the reflective surface and into the room. Perpendicular layers stack on top of each other and offset to create a that similar rhythmic motion. A brushed bronze box holds the LED strip while structurally supporting the forms of the wings. The box can either be enclosed by a frosted glass or left open for extra exposure to illuminate the any room it is placed in.

P r o c e s s Work The objective of this project was to think about, choose and apply lighting principles to an early partial mock-up of an effect in a workplace studio project. This allowed me to try out various techniques as I proceeded along, and learned ideas about lighting while testing and applying them to my emerging design. My goal: To integrate varying lighting techniques and applications on planes to encourage movement, way finding and highlight features in the space. The space itself was organic and fluid, by giving spotlight to these elements that were applied to the feature wall, enhances a natural and refreshing work environment. 57

A B O U T
Hello!
s a m a n t h a
THIS PORTFOLIO EXHIBITS FOUR YEARS OF INTERIOR DESIGN PRACTICE, GRAPHIC DESIGN, & ILLUSTRATION WORK, FUELED BY MY DEEP PASSION FOR HOLISTIC & INTERDISCIPLINARY DESIGN
Born and raised in Sarasota, Florida, I am a graduate of the CIDA accredited Interior
Architecture & Design program at Florida State University. If there was one thing I was sure of from the time I was young, was that travel would be a fundamental element in my life for growth, experience, and appreciation of the modern world. Therefore, I took it upon myself to venture out to places and explore what it has to offer, all while finding bits of myself in each city, building, and person that I came across. My adventures fuel my passion and inspiration when creating. Resulting in designs that encapsulate inspiration for the human condition with a holistic approach in all things interior design and architecture. When shaping our world, I believe it is my obligation to honor the people, the surroundings, and environment so they may enrich our lives and positively transform our reality.
