Through Time The Mayan Apocalypse. I don’t believe in such superstition. I was in Asia when everyone was panicking about the world’s end on December 21st 2012. They all seemed ridiculous with the world’s end hoax all over their Twitter feed. Here’s why I think it’s stupid to panic on the 21st. If the Mayans settled in the American Continent, then their 21st is Asia’s 22nd. Many couldn’t fit the divergent of time into ordinary logic. So what is there to confuse the minds of the ordinary? Time. Time is a fundamental basis of existence which governs our monotonous lives. Yet I’ve been questioning that definition for a while and asking whether time is just a conspiracy to govern the minds of the ordinary. Is time just another “Mayan Apocalypse” hoax? Looking through modern physics and astronomy, I’ve learnt that the universe is govern by speed, not time. Japanese scientists stated that time is a variable that needs to be sacrificed for the universe to exist. Why? If you do well in physics, you’ll probably recall the formula that relates Speed, Time and Distance. That's just a general overview of how the universe works. For the universe to achieve order, it needs something to be used or sacrificed. The universe chose Time. Confused? Let's put it this way. You're traveling with a car at the speed of 20km/h while another car travels on the opposite direction with the speed of 30km/h. You will see the car going on the opposite direction traveling pass you at 50km/h. It seems like time accelerates for the object that’s going pass you in the opposite direction. This is a simple proof that time is sacrificed for speed which makes time indefinite. Relating this to everyday world, the stars we gaze during the night may’ve been dead millions of years ago. NASA suggested that the starlight we see during the night is the light that has travelled millions of lightyears or equivalent to the distance between Earth and the star to be exact. Hence, by gazing the starry night, we’re peeking into the past. So how’s it that when we live in the present, we can see the past? Is there something wrong with what we call “time”? Here’s what I think. To put it simply, time doesn’t exist. Clocks does. We invented time to keep ourselves into the realm that our logic can accept. We live in the present yet we’re looking at non-existing stars. We’re living in the present yet the statics of our Television contains particles and radiations from the Big Bang. So if we live in the present and we can see the past, the future should be able to see the present we live in. Thus, Time is indefinite and we’re simultaneously living within the past, present and future. Does this mean time is just another hoax? Not quite. It’s there to keep humanity into the realm that their logic can accept. It’s there to keep you sane. It’s somewhat precious, because it lets you live simultaneously in the Past, Present and Future of the universe. Everything’s not what it seems.
