Skye Hoffman Emre Koyuncu ENGL 106 13May 2011 Cover Letter – Revised Projects My portfolio features five items, revised versions of my reflective photo project and its rational paper, a revision of my ten page essay, a revision of my works cited for my 80’s Street Fashion project, and this cover letter. The reflective photo project, Saturday Afternoons, highlights my weekends as Purdue student volunteering at the Columbian Park Zoo, and explains my duties and gained knowledge as an animal care volunteer. My ten page essay, A Lesson in Death: The Portrayal of the Human Condition in a Documentary vs. a Fictional Film, an Analysis, I compare and contrast the directing styles of two films. A revised works cited is also included. Finally, my works cited for my fashion project is simply references for my analysis of 80’s Street Fashion. The changes I made to each are fairly minimal, but still significant to the quality of the projects. I only made a small number of changes because the comments left on my projects did not call for much revision. I agreed with all of the comments on my projects. Although I worked very hard on all of the projects, I still made a few mistakes and left some room for improvement. I was pleased with the shorter amount of time I had to spend making corrections compared to the long amount of time I spent first creating my projects.
The first project I revised was Saturday Afternoons, which consisted of adding a title page and adding a yellow box behind the text on each slide. The only qualification I was marked down for originally was the missing title page. I decided to add the colorful text boxes because I felt that my slides were too simple and did not utilize enough of the tools I learned to use in Photoshop during class. Then, I added a description of the changes to my rational paper. Likewise, my ten page essay grade was only reduced for one thing: an incorrect works cited page. I attempted to fix this, as well as remove any unnecessary in text citations. Lastly, I included a correct version of the works cited of my 80’s Street Fashion project. Even though, I only needed to make a few corrections, they were important ones. The revisions I made to each project amplify their quality and credibility. I believe that each of the five documents in my portfolio are now without flaw.
