First day, unknown levels of motivation in our blood. Just when we arrived at the airport of Lanzarote and we picked up our baggage, my friend Yago realizes that he has lost his wallet. Afterwards, tetris to fit all the luggage in the car and, accelerator to the limit on the way to the ferry station. A few hours later, two sick leaves. Some stitches in Yago’s knee and, Oscar, ankle sprain.

The trip couldn’t start worse… Moreover, a swell with period seventeen was hitting the coast and we could not find a decent wave to surf at. However, two days later we were at the right spot. Barrels and more barrels, the peak crowded of locals and the insane hot weather summed up the journey. We tried to find somewhere cheap where to sleep but we ended up camping right next to the wave hoping that the following morning we could enjoy more good barrels. Nevertheless, the swell had decreased a bit… That afternoon we took another ferry to the quiet island where we spent the rest of the week. Had some surf sessions but nothing amazing to include in the report.

In Australia, though the surface of the country is too big, there are a lot of amazing waves (some of them as good as any surfer can imagine). Which one would you choose as the best? If you are given right now a free trip to somewhere, where would you go?
Well, I have only surfed in Australia, all over NSW, a little section of VIC a few times and a week in Western Australia on a family vacation. I have to say, I fell in love with that Western coastline after that short amount of time. It’s rugged, raw and dangerous. It has huge storm swells, with probably the biggest and heaviest wave in Aus. Some of the shots i have seen from other photographers of a variety of different waves over there are incredible. There is no pollution, no buildings on the beach front; it’s so natural without being completely deserted, and I like that. I definitely think when I am old enough I’ll try to spend a fair amount of my life over there. At fifteen years of age, you have already published some of your work in websites like Le Boogie, Fluidzone… How does it feel seeing your pics next to photographs of Phil Gallagher, Luke Shadbolt, Rod Owen and so on?
Well, I haven’t actually had a magazine publishment next to their names and photos, but to be affiliated and have my images posted by those big branded names in bodyboarding is epic! What could possibly be better than going out, doing what you love in the ocean, coming home and having the biggest bodyboarding photography companies sharing your photos for everybody to see? (as well as the odd bit of cash here and there!!). I would love to get some more of my stuff in actual print, but that comes with having a bigger name and more professional images which I hope to achieve in the near future!

After three years taking photos, eight months ago we all were stoked on the cover-shot you got in Riptide. Tell us, how did you feel when you saw one of your pics as a covershot of one of the best bodyboarding magazines in the world?
The day that it was announced that the cover-shot of Riptide number 187 was a photo taken by me, I could not believe it… In that moment, I was going to visit a school and, as usual, I was late. I had a new Facebook notification in the mobile phone. Before getting into the car I opened the application and I saw a cheering from Javier Melián which said: “Congratulations! Look at Riptide’s Facebook page”. My first thought was: today it is not my birthday, so… will they have used a photo I took or anything else? Therefore, I visited Riptide’s Facebook page and I was shocked! My photo was the cover-shot!!! I gave a huge hug to my girlfriend who was right next to me while I was showing her the pic. Afterwards, I phoned my parents to let them know and I felt really happy. One of my dreams had come true! In the Canary Islands there are many kind of waves... Which one would you choose?
Well… no doubts at all that my favorite wave to shoot at or tu surf is El Frontón. It can get really heavy, you can fly so high… From my point of view, one of the best waves in the whole world! There are also other waves which are quite good in other islands but I won’t tell their names here as I respect my mates. If you were given a whole trip for free wherever you want, where would you go?
Who is gonna give it to me, what should I do to get it? It would be awesome. There are many destinations I want to go but, unfortunately, due to lack of money, no time or whatever I haven’t been out to the Canaries yet. I hope some day I can travel far away from here to know new cultures and new places. As Elliot Morales told me, one the best places to surf is Cook Islands, waves all the year and not crowded. You are clearly really pumped trying to take new and better photographs. You are currently studying artistic photography. How did it all began? Do you feel like you are getting better?
Yes, I am in the second year of my career. First one was about analogue photography but now, it is about digital photography which is funnier. I could say that I am getting better as a consequence of my teachers. I would like to thank them of the patience they have had with me (I asked them many many things).
