FAT SANDWICH.

“
Excellent service at the Fat
Sandwich, the staff knew most of their customers and were
very friendly, the lunch menu is large, but the salad looked a little wilted, I have had both breakfast food and lunch food and found both to be very satisfying. Compliments to the staff for both their knowledge of customers and working in extreme heat.

o time to get food? In a rush? The Fat Sandwich provide a range of buffets and freshly baked goods made to order. You’ll find this cafe extremely popular around lunchtime… best advice would be to get there before the rush hour. Although the store isn’t large, the queue’s hang outside the door… quite surprising as Gregg’s is directly opposite - Clear signs of a decent lunch time attraction since it serves food other than pastries! Employee’s there are both friendly and welcoming while the food is displayed in glass cabinets drawing your taste buds in. It’s lacks seating areas which encourages the audience to take away.

he Angel Cafe is an affordable cafe located on Corporation Street. It’s cheap prices and modern look helps to complete the pleasurable experience. As you walk inside you are greeted by a spacious and bright social environment. The wooden floor and yellow walls help to reflect the light
around the room while the large glass window keeps you in with the flow of the hustle and bustle of Birmingham. If you look up, you see the incredible, detailed Art Nouveau architecture which shouldn’t go unnoticed. The menu ranges from lights snacks to all day breakfasts. The prices are certainly student friendly!
“Fabulous food even before their new layout. More tables now, so less of a need to wait. Mega breakfast is great, and you can mix and match as may items of breakfast as you want. Great mugs of tea. Highly recommended! Yum Brum 7
“Day by day we are looking, feeling and acting more like an established coffee shop. We’ve even expanded our food offering beyond cookies.”

ix Eight is a quaint coffee shop on Temple Street. This modern cafe isn’t just a normal coffee shop - Every six weeks the artwork upon the walls changes as artists use this space to exhibit and sell their work. This unique idea allows local budding artists to get their work seen. 6/8 Kafe provide you with a very interesting and original idea new to taking away coffee, they have take-art-away cups, basically they
have artists creating stickers that go on the take out cups some are exclusive prints and no two cups are the same! The different events there certainly cause a stir in the street! It creates a total different experience to drinking coffee.
“6/8 Kafe has its values, beans and baristas spot on and now its got some nice food offerings too it’s easily the best city centre stop off for tip top coffee and friendly service. Give them a try and support a local, owner run business!”

ored, hungry, and with nothing to do I decided to walk around aimlessly through the streets of Birmingham (only the city centre ‘cos I’m lazy like that). Without trying to sound too much like a little kid, it definitely was exciting.
it reminded me of the Chip Shop idea Jim Eastwood’s team came up with on The Apprentice 2011. As I walked further into the store, it was the “olden time” feel it had to it. The dark colour scheme, with the lighting down low, as well as the wooden interior, made me feel very Victorian. A good thing.
The very first thing I noticed about the store set up, was how much

jacket potatoes, wedges, along with any choice of vegetables. There is obviously no limit to the amount you eat, how much you can put on your plate. But the more you add, the more you pay. The store is open daily 8am – 6pm (yes folks they even do breakfast!) A definite must try!
“Very scrummy! We go to this place about once every couple of months and we love the food and service. I’ve converted my mother too and when she’s in town we go together. A definate must if you are going to the bullring!” Yum Brum 17

The restaurant itself has been designed to look rustic and done in a Birmingham industrial kind of way with a twist of having an Italian feel to it with the décor and style. As you walk in, the room opens up allowing up to 270 guests to dine in a relaxed environment. Seating is available outside overlooking St. Martins church and market, certainly a buzzing atmosphere, perfect for those sunny days!

ituated near the bullring shopping centre you find Jamie’s Italian, convenient for a pleasant lunch out whilst having a rest from doing you’re shopping! This wouldn’t appear on the cheap scale but Jamie’s is worth a visit! You have two choices in the size of the portion - small and medium - both sizes are definitely stomach fillers! To top this experience, the waiters and waitress’ speak Italian, so make sure to put on your best put on your best accent to impress!
unpretentious with all types and ages tucking in, making for a relaxed atmosphere. It’s great value for money, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself there.

ant an ultimate French taste of food? Cafe Rouge provides just that, to leave your taste buds wanting more. Price wise? It is definitely affordable, they offer great set of menus, which are ideal if your in an indecisive mood. The set menu’s include three starters and three mains, you cant go wrong! They also offering a big selection of other meals,

you can defiantly find a dish that suits you. Always find you have a busy schedule, need somewhere to serve you the most important meal of the day? Breakfast is served 9am till midday giving you a delicious French menu, especially the ‘pain perdu’ to brighten up your morning and get you going for the day. The red and gold theme brings in the French culture while you eat. Compared to some
of the other restaurants featured, the layout is much more cramped allowing tables for large numbers. Café Rouge also has outside seating, which is great if you want to experience and watch the city go by.
“ Oh my, I am so
impressed with Cafe Rouge!! I have just come back from my first lunch there in years and I had such a nice time. All in all this was one of the best lunches out we have had and we all thoroughly enjoyed it! “

ust like you would find it in London, Cyber Candy sits in the central part of Birmingham City Centre, with open access to candies from all sorts of places, California to Morocco to Japan. Well not Japan anymore, says store manager Andrew
“Unfortunately, because of the radiation in Japan we haven’t been able to receive shipments from Japan in a little while.”
W
hich is very sad, as from my experience, Japan probably had the best types of sweets, especially their Panda Bears; a biscuit, in a chocolate biscuit, wrapped in chocolate. It tasted absolutely beautiful.

“Its been great working here, open access to all types of sweets for my sweet tooth. What else could a guy in his mid-thirties ask for ey’? (Laughs)”
T
he store layout is something that I find attractive myself. The walls full of creative loud graffiti type art, compliments the variations of hues the of the sweets. As well as the really funky soft toys in place around the store. Kind of make you feel like a kid in primary school again!
T
he prices are somewhat affordable. Although, there were some moments I would have to question my actions and ask myself “Would I realistically, on any normal day, spend this amount of money on sugar?”
B
ut, definitely go try it out, you haven’t experienced life to the fullest if you haven’t experienced Cyber!
