IT MIGHT BE a surprise, but 2021 is the year of the sunflower, according to the National Garden Bureau. These gorgeous blooms are certainly a summer favorite, and they continue to be available for harvest through early fall. The “classic” yellow with brown center is always a show-stopper, but there are many varieties to switch things up. Mixed together, they make a sunny arrangement for your kitchen or dining room table, and single stems scattered in vases around the house can only bring smiles. If you want to branch out and try a different variety, look for “chocolate” and “plum” sunflowers, or seek the “gold lite” – a yellow sunflower with a yellow center.
