Energy – the Three Principles
www.slideberry.com
Now I want to introduce to you the three principles that I use when I work with my clients to improve their energy and mental clarity. First is to eat meals that create sustained energy – not the spikes and crashes that we see resulted from eating sugar and caffeine. Then we look at how we can strengthen and calm the nervous system – so that you can have the focus for work when you need it, and be able to relax when it’s time to rest. Last but not least, we look at reducing environmental toxic load and increasing detox capability of the body because detoxification is a very energy-consuming process. If our body expenses a lot of energy in eliminating toxins, there is very little energy left for things that you actually want to do. Principle #1 Create Sustained Energy When our body gets a sustained supply of energy, we are less likely to reach for sugar and caffeine, and suffer the resulting energy roller coaster. This leads to better focus, improved concentration, and a more stable mood. Glycemic Load One of the keys is to maintain a stable blood sugar level, because it affects mood and energy in a very direct way. To do so, you can eat meals with a low glycemic load, also referred to as GL. Glycemic load measures how quickly the carbohydrates that you ingest get broken down into simple sugars in your digestive system, and how fast they are absorbed into your bloodstream. The higher the GL, the faster the digested sugars rush into your bloodstream – creating energy spikes and crashes. To have a meal low in GL, incorporate a generous amount of whole, unrefined grains, non-starchy vegetables, and beans – which are all high in complex carbs and fiber. Fiber helps regulate the absorption of sugars into the blood. To further

Principle #3 Reduce Toxic Load

The third pillar in boosting energy is to reduce your toxic load – both internally and in your environment. As I mentioned, our body needs to use a lot of energy to process toxins. If we reduce our toxic load, it means that our body can expense less energy on detoxification and elimination, so you will have more energy for other activates, less brain fog, a stronger immune system, as well as better digestion, absorption and assimilation of nutrients, which also means more energy. Detox is a huge subject and I do a 90-minute class on just this one topic so if this is something you want to learn more about, check out the Detox Basics homestudy program to get all the juicy information, tips and action steps that you can do to reduce your toxic exposure and to safely get rid of toxins in your body. [To create your detox basics home-study program, check out Slideberry’s DoneFor-You Detox Basics Information Product] Here are a few of tips that you can do right away to lower your toxic load: •
Buy organic produce as much as possible – learn about the dirty dozen list.
•
Reduce and work toward eliminating processed and packaged food from you life.
•
You can also facilitate your body’s elimination process, reduce fluid retention, and aid your body’s natural detoxification process by eating cleansing foods such as berries and leafy greens.
[The next step is to detox regularly – probably once or twice a year. Mention your detox program and how people can learn more]
