A Word From Our New Market President A LOT HAS CHANGED IN THE PAST YEAR, AND THE MARKET IS BUSIER THAN EVER.
I’ve been in real estate business for 22 years and am very excited and honored to be able to work with all our amazing brokers in Summit County in my new role as Market President. My main focus will be to help them retain and grow their business and in turn, grow the footprint of SSF in the region as well. I know a lot about growing a real estate business; I myself started with SSF in 2008 as an associate broker in Keystone and moved up to the Branch Broker of the Keystone office in 2009 and then the Breckenridge office in 2016. Nearly 60 years after Vail’s first broker, Rod Slifer, set up his firm, SSF continues to execute a vision that prioritizes service, local expertise and careful stewardship of our mountain communities. Today, SSF has 33 offices including four in Summit County. The market has changed a lot in the past year. Covid-19 propelled our business in ways no one could have imagined 15 months ago. Coming out of this pandemic, it’s like a switch flipped and the market is busier than ever. We have a large number of buyers looking to come into our community because people are now pursuing that vacation property they’ve saved up for so they can gather with family and friends and enjoy everything the mountains have to offer. We have a lot of demand with a limited supply, and I’m working closely with our brokers to adapt to a market that’s unlike anything we’ve seen before. It’s very fast paced, there’s a lot of information that needs to be deciphered quickly, and people are making decisions faster than ever. We need to uphold our standards for customer service and make sure that even in this fast-paced market, our brokers are being taken care of—and taking care of their clients—effectively and efficiently. We’re also revamping the onboarding process to help make the transition for our new brokers more seamless, to help them embody the SSF culture, to keep everyone more organized and facilitate communication between our brokers, corporate team, and staff so we can all be more efficient.

Now that we are finally returning to a sense of normalcy, our Summit County brokers are thrilled to get back to the frenetic pace of our non-stop summer events calendar. We remain incredibly committed to our community and that’s backed up each and every day by our firm’s brokers and through our philanthropic work with the Slifer Foundation. We can’t wait to step out of the virtual world for our annual in-person events with some of our most cherished local non-profit organizations, including Lake Dillon Theatre, The Keystone Science School, Building Hope Summit County, and others. While the Breckenridge market continues to lead in regards of the highest price per square foot with Frisco close behind, we’re seeing the most growth right now in terms of new development in Keystone and Silverthorne. With prime parcels of land in the community being absorbed, development is going vertical and changing the landscape around the I-70 corridor right in front of our eyes. My goal is to make sure our brokers are getting updated information as quickly as possible to keep buyers educated, to maintain close relationships with development partners and to stay on top of the sales processes. In a market where most properties sell as or before they hit the MLS, it’s more important than ever to share information on a daily basis and to maintain those personal relationships that are going to be key to the success of our brokers. In the current market, it is not particularly hard to sell a home at our selling price range. In our case, great photography, drone photos and dollhouse video made the difference and our broker was able to arrange those in a very efficient manner. Our broker was Renee Imamura and she has helped us with numerous transactions in the past. In addition to being a kind and caring person, what stands out about Renee above other realtors we have used is that she is willing to do the extra leg work for you and not just give you phone numbers so you can arrange it all yourself. We needed two repairs and some general snow maintenance done in the process. She executed that efficiently and ensured the work was completed in a timely manner. This involved numerous extra trips to the house since we were not there. We also experienced a couple of instances where our house was not left as it had been after showings/inspections and she was very quick to remediate, again making extra trips to the house to ensure everything was resolved. We really appreciated the extra effort.
