This week our nation paused as it reflected upon the 50th anniversary of the now famous March on Washington. As you may recall, the March on Washington was one of the largest political rallies for human rights that our nation has ever seen. Although it was a day full of many life-changing events, for many the most memorable was the electrifying “I Have A Dream” speech given by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Despite the fact that it was given over fifty years ago, it continues to reverberate in the hearts and minds of many across this nation and the world. As you join us for worship today, our prayer is that the dream that God has planned for your life will be realized and that you too will be part of that great number that will be prepared to meet Him when He returns.
Family 2 Family, a 12-week series for caregivers of persons with brain disorders will be held from 7:00 – 9:30 p.m. in the Washington Adventist University Music Building – Room #008, every Thursday evening, starting September 12, except November 7 and November 28. Summary of our Beliefs The Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17). Jesus Christ is the Divine Son of God and our personal Savior from sin by grace through faith. (John 1:1-3; Ephesians 2:8). Having been saved, followers of Jesus live in obedience to Him by observing the Ten Commandments. (Exodus 20: 1-17; John 14:15). The Sabbath – the seventh day of the week- established by God at creation and honored by Jesus in His earthly ministry, is to be observed by the followers of Jesus. (Exodus 20:8-11; 1 Peter 2:21). Jesus is coming back to earth personally and visibly to raise the righteous dead and give His faithful children of all ages immortality in an earth made new. (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; Revelation 22:12; 21:1-3).

OUR LIFE TOGETHER
sabbath devotional The Lord is disappointed when His people place a low estimate upon themselves. He desires His chosen heritage to value themselves according to the price He has placed upon them. God wanted them, else He would not have sent His Son on such an expensive errand to redeem them. He has a use for them, and He is well pleased when they make the very highest demands upon Him, that they may glorify His name. They may expect large things if they have faith in His promises. Desire of Ages, Page 668
Holy Communion will be celebrated on Sabbath, September 14. This is a time of reflection on our relationship with our heavenly Father, as well as a time when we celebrate our freedom from sin, made possible by the sacrifice of our Lord. If you know anyone who needs to have communion brought to his or her home, please call Erwin Mack at 301-434-1622. Sligo Federated Music Club will have the first recital of its season on September 8 at 4:00 p.m. in the Sligo Church atrium. Janice Wood, a pianist studying at Catholic University, will be the featured soloist. Come, enjoy the concert and consider joining the club for the rest of its outstanding performances this season! Sligo Women’s Ministries Book Club will meet on Wednesday, September 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the Discipleship Room to discuss “The House at the End of the Road” by W. Ralph Eubanks. Potomac Conference Women’s Retreat: September 14 - 15. Registration is necessary! Pick up a flyer at the Information Desk today to see how you will be pampered and refreshed!
