ANNOUNCEMENTS (continued)

welcome

Welcome to Sligo Church. One of my favorite pastimes is perusing bookstores whenever I can find the time. Lately, it has been the bookstores that are located August 8, Saturday in airports. Now, I know that a lot of people today no longer read books in a hardcopy format, but I still do. Homeless Ministry, Discipleship Room, 2:00 p.m. There is something about holding the actual book that August 10, Monday I still find quite appealing. One of my favorite places Regeneration Ministries, Office Conference Room, 7:30 p.m. in any bookstore is the psychology or self-help section. Here you find just about every book known to man where advice is given as to how August 12, Wednesday we can become better spouses, employees, children and just plain Prayer Gathering, Sanctuary, 7:00 p.m. better people in general. And yes, you will even find books that will tell (or by phone: 949.229.4400 Pin:4997774#, 7:35 p.m.) Sanctuary you how to become a better Christian. But what do we really mean Choir Rehearsal, Choir Room, 7:30 p.m. when we say “better”? In other words, better than who and what is the standard that we are using to make this determination? In Part III of Sligo Book Club Meeting, Discipleship Room, 7:00 p.m. our series God’s Good Work: Lessons from Philippians, we examine August 13, Thursday the Apostle Paul’s journey with the goal of obtaining what this means, Exercise Class, Memorial Chapel, 6:30 p.m. but not from the shelves of our favorite bookstore, but from the pages of God’s Holy Word. - Pr. Charles A. Tapp
